[Summary] In the late hours of the night, Ezio isn't thinking about who he expects he would be thinking of.
[Author's Note] Crackficlet written for Jessi, because we are forever amused by the bards.
After Christine, Ezio swore he would never be able to fall in love again, would never feel the anxious beating of his heart with just a thought of someone’s name or the memory of their face. But, seemingly out of nowhere, it had happened. He realized it one night while lying awake, staring at the stars through the window while trying to get to sleep. A dark-haired girl lay beside him, warm breath against his shoulder, breasts pressed against his arm, but she wasn’t the one captivating his mind.
Instead, his thoughts wandered to a man he’d met in the street while on a mission. Not a man he’d expect to be thinking about, but he just couldn’t help where his mind meandered to. He found himself remembering the way the other man’s fingers, graceful and delicate and covered with a smattering of calluses, flitted across the strings of his lute; longing to hear the deep lilt of his voice as he sang the words to a song he had composed to entertain people for a few florins.
Ezio thought that he could write a sonnet of his own with descriptors of how he would like to caress his fingers across the other’s cheek as a low song, meant only for Ezio, escaped his lips; of how his lithe body and tan skin would look in the moonlight that cast soft shadows across his body; of the sweet melody that only Ezio could cause.
But perhaps that was a sonnet best kept in his own mind.
