As per usual, I went overboard. I was attempting to scale it back but (thankfully!) this scene was gloriously long and absolutely everything I capped look pretty and wonderful and woeful all at the same time
OH MAN, THIS SCENE. I can't even begin. I realise the purpose of this scene is more to relay how Chuck has grown and changed but what I LOVED about it was how it inadvertently displayed how amazing their relationship is. It is necessity and acceptance; wanting so badly to help and to just be there. ED WESTWIIIIIICK. OH GOSH, EDWESTWICKICANNOTEVEN. I honestly wasn't expecting the emotional depth this episode came with - I had assumed ghost!bard would stop by and throw a few insults Chuck's way but the way it was portrayed as a projection of a Chuck's manifested issues? Leighton was so so so so lovely here as well - the way Blair's face begins to visibly crumple as he spoke so that you could HEAR her heart breaking for him and everything that he thinks but SHE knows he's not. What a lovely portrayal of complete faith, trust and absolute love. Body language! The way she clings onto his scarf as they walk off; they way he leans on her because for Chuck, to be with Blair is to be thrown into complete relief and I feel this works both ways. I am thinking back now to all the times they have kissed but this one here? Quickly, against her temple? Is probably my favourite. It is so slight, it muffles his soft 'thank you' but it is so immensely appreciative and perfectly evoked how thankful he is that she simply exists. WONDERFULLY SHALLOW NOTE: GODDAMN, HE LOOKED REALLY GOOD IN THIS EPISODE. The cheekbones/jaw/contours of that wonderful face, in particular, were in top form
YOU GUYS, I FEEL SO LUCKY. I just adore absolutely every single thing about them. I am sure other exciting and interesting things happened in this episode but I really can't remember any of them. I'll try and rewatch the episode a little later.
