There is no such thing as 100% reliable birth control. Even sterilization is not 100%, plus like any surgery it involves risks.

True nothing is 100% but taking it is better then not. I haven't seen one single case of rape where the woman was taking birth control and still got pregnant. In a situation like that I can see public assistance (contradicting my earlier statement) but not in cases where they were not taking it.

People need to start taking responsibility for their lives and their actions. It's as I hear from so many other countries, Americans are soft and reckless. I'm starting to agree with them.

Because people don't want to take this responsibility they look to law makers to make things "laws" so they can avoid the issue of making the choice or taking that common sense responsibility. Laws are getting too crazy and too abundant to have anyone keep heads or tails of what they are.

No system is perfect, I think all Americans know that our system is very seriously lacking in many areas. In the case of rape or incestial impregnation and such, they should issue a court judgement aginst who impregnated the girl for the costs of the abortion. Make them pay for it not the tax payers is what I'm saying. I'm not aginst abortion in special circumstances. I just hate seeing public tax dollars misused.

Those who commit the crimes need to be held totally responsible no matter what the dollar figure is. They caused it they should pay for it.

Public money for abortions is only approved in cases of incest, rape and if the mother is in danger of death.

Redefining rape means that statutory rape cases will not be considered rape for the purposes of public money used for abortions.

Now if it was a natural impregnation that occured (accidental or concentual accident - Not raped) I would not be aginst some public assistance to save their life (if they were in danger only). But in cases of rape, as I replied to Eliki, the person who raped them should have to foot the bill, Not tax payers.

There are plenty of companies who will buy out your court structured settlements and they could get the cost of their abortions that way, covered by court awarded pay from the person who raped them and then that person has to deal with the consequences the rest of their lives.

My biggest point here is this should be an issue to debate after our country is out of crises. Abortions and rape redefinition is the least of our concerns when millions of households are about to become homeless due to lack of work. That happens you'll see crime rates soar off the charts.
