Brady Joseph was born on Thursday June 12, 2008 at 9:51pm at 9 pounds 4 ounces/ 21 inches long. I went into the hospital for an induction at 7:30 am and a cervical softner was administered at 9am. I was closed and not dilated; I was also told that my cervix was really high. I started dilating and contracting and he started dropping. At 12pm I was 2 centimeters and my water was broken. I quickly dilated to 4 centimeters and he dropped down to two. The pitocin was started and increased and increased. I did not progress, nor did he drop. At 8pm I found out for the third time nothing had changed and my contractions were very difficult. I had stayed natural and my husband was an awesome labor coach. My doctor offered c-section or catheter to see the strength of the contractions, but was leaning toward doing the section. At that point I was frustrated and disappointed, but knew that she wasn’t a typical pusher of c-sections. I had my c-section and found out why Brady wasn’t moving down, his head was down, but his feet were around his head.
Brady and I are doing well all in all. He is having some feeding issues due to needing to go to the nursery after the c-section and getting formula. We are trying to work it out, but I have had to start pumping because of latch issues. I plan on getting a lactation consultant. Our little one may also be constipated because of my pain meds and he may have circumcision issues. Luckily, everything else is going well and he has his appointment tomorrow. Our lack of sleep is worth it; we are in love with Brady!
