So I got on LJ to illustrate my last post with pictures. It's still a work in progress.
Shire horses...
Why? I love the solid, sturdy look of draft horses, and Shires are the tallest. It must be absolutely amazing to ride one of these beasts. Having one would be useful for pulling heavy loads without the waste or pollution of a tractor. Also, the name reminds me of a certain location in Middle Earth. ;)
Clydsdale horses
...
Why? For basically the same reason as I'd like a Shire. However, I've actually seen Clydesdales in real life (the Budweiser horses at Busch Gardens and Sea World) and fell in love with them. In addition, they're from my 'homeland' of Scotland.
Gypsy Vanner horses
...
Why? While searching for pictures of the previous two draft horses, I came across these magical creatures. The story behind them is wonderful. I'm convinced they're the most beautiful horse breed in existence (that I've seen, anyway). They come with a hefty price tag of around $30,000 - might as well dream big.
Appaloosa horses
...
Why? I've been enchanted by these color-splashed equines since I was just a little girl. They represent the spirit of the American Indian to me. If I had a farm, I would need an Appaloosa.
American Paint horses...
Why? For the exact same reason as the Appaloosa.
Highland cattle
...
Why? They're the most adorable cattle breed there is. I love their mop-tops. Again, these animals hail from Scotland!
Jersey cattle
...
Why? Look at their sad faces and cute, slimy noses! They're good cows for milk, too.
Poitou Donkey
...
Why? They have huge ears, shaggy coats, and they're currently endangered!
Miniature horses...
Why? They're adorable, and I've wanted one since I was a little girl.
