Oh the joys of homeownership.

We're getting new windows, and need to get tiles fixed on our roof. The freak rains caused a leak above one of our windows. The restoration company guys told me they've seen all kinds of leaks in houses that normally would not experience them, but the crazy rains and winds just wreaked all kinds of havoc in town. My poor neighbors across the street had it worse--they actually had a whole wall leak in.

The houses are 26 years old, so it was bound to happen. It's causing pain in our wallets doing all these remodels at once, but with each improvement I feel like it's becoming more of the house WE want.

I eventually want new cabinets too, but these other issues are much more pressing. Maybe in five years or so.

In the meantime I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying I can hold off putting the boy in full time daycare. Half of me wants to just so he can start getting that pre-school experience. He's able to sit still longer, and is learning at a much more rapid pace. I purposely got an easel/blackboard and desk and chair to simulate a classroom like setting. When he's with his cousins they play "school" with my niece being the teacher and the other two sitting on pillows on the ground, preschool style.

(It's kind of a bummer teaching him to just sit still. I personally prefer being out and about, learning with your senses and being more tactile. But I can also understand the way classrooms are set up, and trying to reign in 24 kids is a challenge unless you've got a traditional classroom set up.)

I hope he enjoys school. Scratch that, I just want him to enjoy learning, to revel in seeing something new every day.

It's my own personal fear of being stagnant. As annoying as being OCD can be, a big part of me enjoys taking on new shit AND actually getting it done. It's when I CAN'T do things that bums me out.

Anyway, I digress, again. I was talking about homeownership and somehow I sidewinded myself talking about preschool education. eh. I'm all over the place.
