[Jack has since made his way back to Violet City after getting his egg, deciding it would be better for it to be inside; and that way, he could keep an eye on both the egg and Karp. Karp had slowly gotten used to the egg being around, though he still seemed to get jealous when Jack picked it up instead of him. He'd wriggle his way onto Jack's lap ( Read more... )

It... doesn't quite look like a Steel-type to me.

Me neither, but jeez... it looks so much like Metal Gear Ray... I'm pretty sure this place is trying to make me lose my mind.

How could it look like a metal gear if it's not a Steel-type?

Well... I don't mean a gear, a Metal Gear where I'm from was a huge machine capable of all kinds of destruction. It just so happens that the mass-produced ones had a similar shape to this Pokemon... they had tails, though.

A destructive machine? [Having flashbacks to the Giant of Babil here.] ...This one looks too small to destroy much, at least.

Yeah... they could launch nukes in some cases, and others had railguns. Going up against one was almost a death wish.

[Gible makes its way over to Jack, before clamping its jaws down on his sleeve.]

Hey-!

[He holds his arm up. It dangles from his sleeve by the mouth.]

...It looks so stupid. Between Karp and this thing, I'm starting to wonder why all the Pokemon that find me are mentally challenged.

[Karp is wriggling on his side, murmuring his name over and over happily. As usual, Jack ignores him.]

I think the machines from your world are more advanced than the one that attacked mine.

At least they seem kind-hearted. I've seen Pokémon attack their own trainers during battles.

Attack their own trainers?

[He looks down at Karp suspiciously. Karp seems pleased that he's being acknowledged, making more noise.]

...Yeah, you act all happy and everything. I'm watching you.

As long as you treat them well, that should not be a problem, even after your Magikarp's evolution into Gyarados.

...Gyarados?

[Otacon had said Karp would evolve, but he hadn't wanted to "ruin the surprise". He looks down at the fish in his lap.]

...Will he still fit in my lap after he evolves? I mean, he really likes it there...

...No one warned you about the Gyarados? [Oh dear.] He won't be able to fit there anymore. As a matter of fact, you would fit in his. ...If he had one.

No...?

[Jack is confuse]

So... he just turns into a big fish? Damn, I won't be able to carry him around anymore when that happens... and he hates his Pokeball. I guess you'll have to flop around, Karp.
