Hallo, lovers. And friends. Or both!
The Halloween show has ended, and it has taken me a week to recover. Mon Dieu! I work so hard, but it is all so very worth it! The decor was beautiful, I had great volunteers, and with Gretchen as my third hand, the delightful Carolyn as the House Manager (I swear, the British accent alone soothes many a crankypants) and a helluva lot of planning, it all went very smoothly! Desserts were delish, too! Plus, my dress got SO many compliments!!! Between myself as a mermaid, and Gretchen as the Goddess of the River Ganges (she would have gone as a selkie, but the sealskin issue became problematic), we were fine, fine form. The dancers were beautiful, and I've fallen in love with this song, to which
trapecia and her husband danced, as Undine and a Sailor. It's by local folk singer Dana Lyons, who performed live one of the nights. Marvelous!

And now, onto the holidays! I have Christmas gifts to knit (I'm about half done so far!), swing dancing to teach over in Connell again, Thanksgiving, and a job search to crack down on.
Because, oh yes, I've had it with my job, my stupidvisor who needs to have his head removed via rectal surgery, and a completely unappreciative company. It's pretty bad when you go to HR saying "I'm struggling so hard, and I am thinking about moving on" and they say "yeah, that's probably a good idea." They pretty much said they value him more than me, even though I have seniority and have never been a problem, whereas the entire company knows that our department is having issues, especially with him. McK in general is a good company on paper, and maybe other departments are better. But since I got hamstrung by my manager when I had an opportunity to move elsewhere last year, and another opportunity has not come along, that pretty much tells me where I stand here.
So, it's been 5 years, and I've proved my worth. It's time to take that worth elsewhere. I started sending out applications last week, and have been monitoring Craigslist, Monster and CareerBuilder, as well as company-specific sites very closely. Need more options though! My next stop might be to sign up with Parker Services again - I never did take any temp jobs with them 5 years ago, but they WERE very diligent about contacting me for opportunities, even after I started at McK, heh.
And now, some random potpourri for your Monday evening!

Blue, Green, Pink...Not to mention SHOES!
I saw these on the Slam Master at a poetry slam with Clay the other night, and BOTH of us were enamored of these shoes!
because who wouldn't want ruffled, rainbow, reptilian platforms?
I've been wanting a pair of
cowgirl boots for at least a year now!
And for swing dancing, these are going to
be a must! And the heel is actually preferred for me - it's the high arches I have which makes heels more comfortable in flats. And I really need the suede soles!
