She's old enough to know, and young enough not to say no.

I <3 my Sundays. In particular, after a very, very busy Friday and Saturday.

Friday, I:
*** Had dinner with a coworker and Gretchen @ Calamity Jane's. It was OK, but I'm not going to rush back there.
*** Attended a Knit Night with Gretchen, sponsored by the West Seattle Yarn Gallery. Pretty nice people (except for the snobby lady who leaned over to Gretchen and asked "what is the purpose of knitting on that thing?", in regards to her Knifty Knitter [loom]). And I got a free hat pattern! Now I need to learn how to knit in the round.
*** Stayed up until 2:45am to finish a scarf for a gift at SAI later that day.

Saturday, I:
*** Led a very long SAI meeting that was still pretty damn good for being nearly 4 hours long. In addition to my Presidential duties for a formal meeting, and a Memorial Service, I had put together a presentation on Asian music that was VERY well received. These little old ladies just love their classical music live performances, but in light of the Chinese New Year food we were being served (more on that later), I presented Balinese monkey chanting, Japanese kabuki, and Chinese pipa music, and they thought it was so great. I loved expanding their horizons to music that wasn't just written by dead European dudes! Also, I decoupaged a terra-cotta pot to be a travelling gift container (it has a reference back to one of our founders) and filled it with the scarf finished just hours earlier. That was also very well received!
*** Helped electriclime run a Passion Party for nearly 30 people! And then went for midnight snackies with those that are fellow night owls.
*** Got home at 2am.

Today, I:
*** Slept in till noon, bitches.
*** Worked on my potted plants. Some had to be pulled out entirely, some survived the winter, and a couple of new ones (a pink polka-dot plant and a silvery-lavender heather plant) got potted.
*** Am knitting and watching Philadelphia for the first time. Tom Hanks is ♥. Also, dealing with some conflicting feelings that I am... well, conflicted. Le sigh.

I also got the call yesterday, in between events, that Grandma passed away. So now I'm making plans for the first trip, back to Wenatchee for this weekend. My sister is taking the train up from Oregon on Thursday, and I will hop on the train in Seattle, and we will arrive together. Services are on Sunday, and I may or may not be playing the piano - it depends if I have enough time (read: no distractions) to practice my fingers off once I'm home and have access to my music and my piano. There will be a trip back to Columbus, Ohio, to bury her cremains with my grandfather's sometime in late March/early April.
I'm glad she's at peace, now. And I'm glad she didn't suffer long. It does seem strange to not have any grandparents left, though. My mom, my aunt, and everyone seems to be handling it very well - I mean, we all knew it was coming, so it wasn't a surprise. But, it's still death, and it still makes me rather sad.

And so, I knit.
