It's that time of year again! Reflections upon the past, and in a future post, glimmerings of the future.
January
I just posted my entry for last night - so it's a bit backdated, but I *did* write it last night, but got *ahem* distracted.
February
Yay, my bonus was deposited! However, boo in on the stupid FICA and their stupid taxes *grumbly mumbly*
March
Random Links: Verstile Arts, up in Greenwood. [Post also including a painting by Da Vinci, the Little Miss Chatterbox t-shirt I'm currently wearing, and my current read, Pope Joan).
April
My Little Ponies + Hollywood Characters? YES, PLEASE! Hilarious!
May
Blessed Beltane! Or Happy May Day, or just a general TGIF, depending on your preference, my dears.
June

Random Tidbits from the last week or so. [I only posted twice the whole month. Yeeps.]
August
O HAI STRANGERS! I’m back, and busier than ever. Impossible, right? I PROVES YOU WRONG!
September
Gretchen came over last night. Thanks to a wretchedly late bus (almost 40 minutes late!!!), we didn't get anything done. [Again, only posted twice in the month! Jeepers.]
October
So, I'm way behind in updating. I've actually spent about 2-3 weeks off and on working on a photoblog going back to my Chicago trip, whilst backlogging every other set of pictures from, oh, June or so. [Note: this STILL isn't done...]
November
Allrighty, I am way behind on photo!blogging, but I'm going to start catching up now.
And apparently December's is going to be... "It's that time of year again!"
O_o
And, I like this one too. I'm going to do it!
The 2000s: A Decade in Review
*Think back to ten years ago on this month.
*Write truthful answers and ELABORATE. This makes it more interesting!
*It's about personal changes. Have fun with it!
Then: December 1999
Age: 16
Romantic Status: That was the year I started dating Ryan, who was my longest-running relationship (at 2 1/2 years, but he's looking to be edged out soon!). He was a great guy that I am still friends with (and the only ex to be able to say that), and possibly the healthiest relationship I have ever been in. We still keep in contact. We met on a blind-date for the Tolo dance in March, the theme being Blast from the Past, and a big group of us went as the '50's, complete with poodle skirts for the girls, handmade by one of the mothers. He showed up dressed like Buddy Holly and I about fell over, but gave him a chance anyway and was glad I did.
Occupation: High school student.
Fun night out: Any night that didn't involve playing in the pep band at a sporting event I didn't give a crap about. Yeah, I have no school spirit. Bite me.
My BFFs: Ryan, Heather Newby
I spent not enough time: Practicing the piano (those whom I couldn't see often enough because I WAS practicing might beg to differ...). And socializing. But then, being a hermit seems to be my calling.
I wanted to be when I grew up: Out from under my parents. They were loving, and still are, but I was reaaaaaally anxious to start spreading those wings.
Biggest concern: How socially [un]acceptable I always felt myself to be.
What my biggest concern should have been: World Peace? C'mon people, I was 16. All I gave a care about boys and clothes.
Where did I live: with my parents, in the same house we'd lived in since we moved to Wenatchee in 1983.
Dumbest thing I did that year: Good heavens, it was 10 years ago! It would have had to be REALLY stupid for me to remember it this long!
If I could go back now and talk to myself I would say: Be careful about boys. And pay attention when Mom cooks, you're going to need those skillz later on!
Picture of myself then:
Homecoming with Ryan, October 1999 - it was also our 6-month anniversary :)
Now: December 2009
Age: 26
Romantic Status: In another long-term dating relationship. Right about where I expected I'd be, actually. And about where I expect I'll stay.
Occupation: Service Coordinator for the leading mechanical contractor in the region.
Fun night out: 80's night at the Noc Noc. Although lately, I've had a yen for going ice-skating. Anyone know a rink?
My BFFs: Gretchen, Shawn.
I spend way too much time: on the Intarwebs. And bitching about my job/coworkers.
I spend not enough time: being fiscally responsible. Or being more pro-active about a career change.
I want to be when I grow up: more street-smart. I'm a smart cookie from books, but I have the street smarts of sheltered middle-class girl.
Biggest concern: Money, money, money.
What my biggest concern should be: World Peace. For realz, this time. I hope there's not a nuclear war right about the time I finally start having kids.
Where do I live: in a darling mother-in-law unit in adorable West Seattle!
Dumbest thing I have done this year: Getting into a huge fight over something that I won't go into on here.
What I think I would say to myself in 10 years: Girlfriend, you're awesome.
Picture of me now:
Well, it's from Halloween, but since the earlier picture is from October of '99, I figure it's appropriate :)
I think I've held my youth well. ;D
Summary:
What do I miss most from 1999: Our pre-9/11 world, when airplane travel didn't take an eon, everyone was a racially-profiled suspect, and the econmy was good.
What do I miss least from 1999: Anxiously awaiting that "when I'm living on my own" moment.
What have I accomplished in 10 years that I am most proud of: Graduation from a great college, seeing parts of the world, becoming an independant woman.
What have I NOT accomplished in 10 years that I wish I had: Having a job that I love.
