[ What is that girl doing-- why are you doing that, random girl?! There's a bang as Lightning throws open one of the windows on her house, looking very annoyed at this green-clad individual apparently terrorizing her lawn, its trees, and the carefully-planted greenery. ]
[ -- As far as she knows, anyway! Ugh, experiments... the woman grits her teeth, then disappears from the window to go and confront the trespasser in person. Stick around or run, Pao-lin? ]
[Oh snapdragons in a stir-fry, now she's really gone and pissed someone off. This is probably going to lead to a non-standard game over for her. Pao-lin turns and runs, and she's almost cleared the yard --
-- until she passes by a few bushes that she hasn't checked yet. She tries to just turn her back on them, but there's something in her head telling her, no, you really should check them, they might have arrow refills or hearts or rupees...
(but what would you need any of those in Luceti for?)
(especially rupees, there isn't any money in Luceti)

Pao-lin's just going to stand there for a few miserable moments, her gaze darting back and forth between the bushes and the road leading out into the rest of the village.]
[ That's plenty of time for a woman who relies so much on being ridiculously fast to catch up. Fortunately for Pao-lin, it's also enough time for her to remind herself that this latest experiment is severely messing with people's behavior, so she really does try to swallow down the irritation as she approaches the girl. ]
Aah! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I was just -- [Her arm is outstretched towards the bushes, wielding the feather duster, and seems to be wavering between putting the duster away and swinging it. She's frowning deeply in concentration.]
[ Without a word Lightning reaches out and grabs the feather duster, but doesn't try to pull it away, just standing in place. She frowns as well. After all the childish behavior happening around town this week, she wouldn't have been surprised if greenish-hair here was another adult, but she's clearly not that old when seen up-close. Sigh, this place. ]
[ Lightning does in fact pull the feather duster away, spinning it in-hand without even thinking about it so that it faces the right way in her own hand instead. Her frown doesn't go away though, as she studies Pao-lin and her get-up thoughtfully. Something about it is... vaguely familiar, though she can't put her finger on it. ]
[Pao-lin...simultaneously relaxes and tenses when Lightning pulls the feather duster away. Part of her is glad to have that silly prop taken away, but part of her is screaming "hey you're defenseless against monsters now". Are there monsters in Luceti? She wants to put down her pot lid shield, but she can't remember where she got it from and it wouldn't be nice to just leave it in this lady's yard. So instead she just clutches it tightly to her chest.]
Again, I-I'm really sorry about all this. I hope I didn't mess things up too badly...
[ Lightning's eyes drift, to the scattering of leaves about the foot of a bush that had been immaculate a quarter of an hour ago. Why would the girl think... oh, why is she even bothering trying to figure She's just a kid, anyway. Or you know, at least looks like one. For now. You never know in this place. ]
Don't worry about it. [ She crosses her arms, feather duster at an angle away from her body. ] What's your name?
[ That's... an interesting name. Kind of Pulsian or something, Lightning thinks, although she tries to keep her opinion from showing on her face. Especially since she's definitely heard weirder, and especially since she's walking around having to say this kind of thing: ]
I'm Lightning. You're pretty new here then, right?
[ Well... even if it did appear on her military records and all, it's still technically an alias, actually; the name she was born with is a whole lot more mundane. Of course someone Pao-lin's age thinks it's cool, though... Lightning chose and started going by it when she was all of fifteen years old. Don't judge! ]
I think I arrived during the last part of the New Feather cycle, so probably no one else from my world is coming anytime soon. [She'll be proven wrong on this eventually.] Have you been here long?
