I have a room number, and a roommate.
I have until the nineteenth.
I don't want to go.
... Alas.
I went stiltwalking in a parade for Scudder Parker - cool guy, by the way - two weeks ago. It was in Barre; we drove home on the edge of a storm, and the sun must have been under forty degrees from the horizon, because a rainbow followed us the whole way. It was beautiful.
Since then, I've mostly been working and trying not to think about college. I keep telling myself I can come home every weekend, and I can IM Ginny, and I can keep up with Julie on the board, and I can read LJ. Doesn't help much yet, but I think it will once I'm there and I actually realize that it's true.
My birthday was lovely; I got a petticoat and books and a necklace that grants a wish and Myst IV and Myst V and the first season of Boy Meets World on DVD and a whole batch of office supplies. And also I registered to vote.
So. I should finish my summer reading.
Been given twenty-four hours
To tie up loose ends -
To make amends.
His eyes said it all;
I started to fall;
And the silence deafened.
Head spinning round,
No time to sit down;
Just wanted to
Run and run and run.
"Be careful," they say,
"Don't wish life away;"
Now I've one day.
I can't believe
How I've been wasting my time -
In twenty-four hours, they'll be
Laying flowers
On my life;
It's over, tonight.
I'm not messing - no,
I need your blessing,
And your promise to live free -
Please do it for me.
Is there a heaven - a hell -
And will I come back?
Who can tell?
Now I can see
what matters to me:
It's clear as crystal.
The places I've been,
The people I've seen,
Plans that I made
Start to fade;
The sun's setting gold -
Thought I would grow old -
It wasn't to be.
I can't believe
How I've been wasting my time -
In eighteen hours, they'll be
Laying flowers
On my life;
It's over, tonight.
I'm not messing - no,
I need your blessing,
And your promise to live free -
Please do it for me.
In thirteen hours, they'll be
Laying flowers
On my life;
It's over, tonight.
I'm not messing - no,
I need your blessing,
And your promise to live free -
Please do it for me.
I'm not alone, I sense it, I sense it -
All that I said, I meant it, I meant it -
I can't believe
How much I've wasted my time -
In just eight hours, they'll be
Laying flowers
On my life;
It's over, tonight.
I'm not messing - no,
I need your blessing,
And your promise to live free -
Please do it for me.
In just one hour, they'll be
Laying flowers
On my life;
It's over, tonight.
I'm not messing - no,
I need your blessing,
And your promise to live free -
Please do it for me.
