"Fixing your Bible. [...] Bible's broken. Contradictions, false logics. Doesn't make sense." - River Tam
This comes up because I was telling Miranda about it. CEN was oddly fantastic today, in such a way that Miranda and I spent all of seventh period continuing to discuss Frankenstein. When she wasn't hassling me about never talking in class, we were basically agreeing on everything, but it still took forty-five minutes to even think about wrapping the conversation up. Mr. Galton was having us do an analysis of Frankenstein from a religious perspective today, which wasn't very hard. Miranda and I arrived at the conclusion that Frankenmonster could represent God at about the same time.
Miranda publicly advertises her lack of religious affiliation, so it was a little funny that Mr. Galton could ask us to look at the book religiously, and Miranda and I both came up with an atheistic perspective: Frankendoc (humankind) invents Frankenmonster (God/religion) which, though it began with good intentions, becomes a twisted and homicidal wacky thing that's impossible to control, and has deviated from its intended purpose. But Frankenmonster, even in the end, retains some goodness of heart. Seems pretty apt, from my chair.
Anyway, this discussion segued into Firefly when I remembered River's Bible-fixing episode, and then into Jon Stewart when I remembered the Evolution, Schmevolution week.
French - not much. Physics - film from MIT in the '50s that was so cute in that old-movie, '50s way. Math - ack. We started our first projects; Iain and I are together, again, doing this icky modeling thing with which I really need Ginny's help. Activity Period, I cleaned up milk I had not spilled, and taped the cover back onto a book I did not own, which I had not ripped. I felt very responsible. Religion - got through class without talking! **punches air** Go me! And CEN, of course.
And now work. Yey.
