Been very very busy of late.
Since Mike left I've been working hard at not getting swept under by the constant flow of "could you do this just quickly... it's rather urgent" jobs and "There's a problem with the website..." . I've mostly been so busy mopping up the puddles I haven't been able to get time to fix the leaks that cause them. That's why I'm working today (a weekend! how rude!). Thought that I'd be able to mop up the biggest puddle or two and have a look at what caused them while I've got no-one adding to my job list.

There's a glimmer of hope in that we've hired a new chap to replace Mike as my assistant. His name's Paul, and it'll be a couple of weeks of training before he's actually useful. ... which means that when he starts in a week's time my productivity will drop to the level of whatever I can accomplish through Paul while he learns. That wouldn't be so bad as I'm sure he'll be able to at least field some phone calls and do some mopping while I do other things from time to time, except that we've got a(nother) major deadline or two pretty soon. It turns out that our product (formerly Apotheosis, now Arc) puts us in direct competition with CAPITA. They're running a trial with several schools in hampshire in January, so it's been decreed that we must do the same or lose the market entirely. It's going to be utterly mental trying to get our system polished enough to run with other schools by mid January.
Prayer would be appreciated.

Meanwhile, I've updated my christmas wishlist, so anyone that feels like buying me stuff should go to http://lightinthedark.org.uk/mewant.html and pick something from that to get me.

Antonia and I are still much in love and are happy together. She's finally found herself a job. It's only a 3 week contract, but it's a bit of money and something to put on the CV. Here's hoping she finds more work through this.
