Opera opened last night. We had a lovely little party at a local wine bar, very nice. They didn't throw an opening night party because of the 10AM show today, so the lighting designer organized one herself. Our production electrician is a huge fan of the wine bar, so he helped with the planning- it was quite nice. There is a party tomorrow night, but since everyone I really want to see is either at strike then or already gone I don't think I will bother. I have much more fun hanging out with the stagehands than the singers.
Overall it was good times during tech, at least of us lighting people. We had no major disasters. The rental shop did forget to give us 12 pars, but that got fixed pretty quick. We thought they had forgotten the hanging irons for the mini-strips but I found those when I went to make sure we had all of the parts for setting up the console. Why you would pack those with the dmx and not the iron I don't know- very strange.
I think the dog and I are going to go bbq at Joe's tomorrow, the dog may even go swimming in the lake if she is good. It will be great fun if tomorrow is as nice as today was.
