Reminder and other housekeeping items....

Don't forget, sign-ups for guest hosts opens in 12 hours! Do not post until the countdown timer is at ZERO. I have pinned the post to the top of the comm, and put a link in the sidebar. Just in case, the link is also here:

https://lighthouse-the.livejournal.com/1866.html

And now here's a very long mod note that is going to put you to sleep:

1. I will be at work on Sunday, so can't always immediately update the Guest Host post. Please keep track of taken weeks by watching the comments. Thank you.

2. I have 6 challenges up that should keep you busy while you wait for the timer :D. One is a team challenge! See the Open Challenges sidebar on the main page for the list.

3. Although Cycle 1 officially starts on Aug 1st, I will not start regular (the fun!!!!!!) challenges until Monday, Aug 5th. The overwhelming choice on the poll was that you prefered me starting Mod Challenges now instead of waiting. I've put plenty up for this cycle that should tide you over until the 5th. Please note though, that I will still be posting, as I have to set up things for the guest hosts. I'm thinking resources (like challenge banners) and an open challenge thread. Is there anything else you think we might need? I also still have to figure out a uniform tag (organizing) system.

Other notes from the poll:

Points Cap? Result: Yes
When I did the original math, I figured 1500 would be enough. 12 weeks equals between 1200-2400 points, depending on the guest hosts. Then I realized my Mod Challenges to start this place were adding up, so for now they don't count towards the 1500. I am counting the 250 pts for guest hosting towards the cap, unless I hear a huge outcry in the comments. We can always reconsider this later. Also, sigtags will no longer count for extra points (they are just mandatory), so they also will not take away from the cap.

Would you be willing to work on the spreadsheet or other google doc? Result: 7 said yes
In case you haven't notice, I am trying to make this comm as smooth moving as possible so that people don't experience burnout and/or get overwhelmed. Many hands make quick work. For the 7 who said yes, I am wondering if you are interested in sharing the work? I need someone who can set up a spreadsheet and update it with points when the guest mods send them to you. I was thinking maybe one person could take one week, another another? I also need someone who can help list the open challenges on the sidebar in lighthouse_the, and maintain an open challenge...I dunno...do we do that in google docs, a post here, both, or something else? I am putting a comment below so we can have a threaded discussion about it if you want.

Would you mind if I did occasional mod challenges irregardless of the schedule? I am thinking stuff like sigtags, etc. So others don't need to worry about them. Result: You don't mind

Thank you! While I think mainly I will keep to the inbetween schedule (the off days at the beginning and end of the cycles), unless someone tells me it is their plan, then I may do seasonal mod challenges for the comm, like sigtags, banners, etc. I do have a ton of other decorating ideas, but I think I've got enough challenges out for now :D

I want to play! But I have access to all the answers. Should I: Result: Join a team
GEOLOGY ROCKS BABY! crew_land all the way!!!! seriously people i have a degree in the field I am also going to help raktajinos co-mod so that each crew has at least two mods. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to either comment here or PM me.

Currently crew_sea is the most popular request, and so far everyone who was invited has accepted. crew_land is still lagging a bit behind.

reminders, poll, cycle 01, mod!note
