Ruby is AMAZING! I love her so much, she's one of my absolute favorite characters right now, so, thank you so much for recommending that show, I'm so glad I watched it. :D
I know, right? She's great! But as far as I know she's gone after season 9 which is going to suck.
But that's kinda the curse of Death in Paradise, that the cast changes a lot. I mean, nobody from the original team is still there. But they always manage to make the new people part of the team - that not something a lot of shows manage.
Yeah, I know. :( Both her and Madeleine are gone, sad face. I don't have a problem with Florence coming back, and I like the others fine, but Ruby is special and Madeleine is my second favorite. I actually liked most of the changes so far, though Camille is also up there in my list and Dwayne will always be one of my favorites too, but yeah, I like the changes generally, keeps it interesting.
True. And I like that apart from Poole, none of them were killed to make room for the new one. Some shows have a real problem with letting characters go to do other stuff and instead always kill them for the drama. But people sometimes just move on to something else and DiP seems to get that.
Haven't go to the ep where Madeleine leaves yet, but I'm sure it's somewhere in s9. :/
Yeah, same, I already didn't like that they killed Richard, especially since it was so easy to write him out otherwise, he hated it there, he could have just gone back to England. :/ But yeah, the others feel more organic and logical in how they leave, though with Dwayne and Fidel they're basically like "oh, yeah, btw, they're gone" lol. Still, works.
Oh, no, both of them stay until the end of season 9 and neither seems like they want to leave any time soon, I just read that they leave and Florence comes back. I'm guessing they're doing the same as with Dwayne and Fidel, that they mention them at the beginning of season 10. At least all the episodes that are out right now have them (the last episode being one of my favorites, but no spoilers, lol).
I have to say I miss Dwayne - he was always good for a laugh. But yeah, sometimes people just leave. No need to kill them all.
Wikipedia has a handy chart of who was there during which season, and it does confirm that Ruby and Madeleine are only there until the end of s9. But at least Florence will be back afterwards. I have to say I'm kinda curious about the new guy, now that Mooney is gone.
Madeleine, I guess, could just be going back to France. Ruby - I really don't know.
Yes, Dwayne was awesome, I miss him too. I get why the actors leave, living half way across the world for half a year must be pretty tough even when it's on a tropical island.
Yeah, I like that chart, I consulted it frequently while watching, lol. I tried finding out the exact reasons why they are leaving (the actresses, that is) but couldn't find any, so I have no idea why. But yeah, Florence will be there and JP is still there. I'll definitely give it a chance when it comes out. The new guy was there for like, two, three episodes? I like him, but no spoilers, lol.
Madeleine could easily go back to France and maybe she'll take Ruby with her for some experience away from Saint Marie? That would be at least plausible.
I don't really invest myself in actors so I usually never know why they leave shows - for me it's more important that it makes sense for the character. But I did read somewhere that the actor who played Dwayne wanted to leave the show on a high note, a sort of "stop while you're ahead" kind of thing. No idea why the actresses left though. Maybe they had other projects they wanted to work on?
I think I might use my Sunday morning to watch the next episode - that's the first with the new guy. I'm excited!
Oh, I'd love to see Madeleine take Ruby to France for some police experience off St. Marie! It would make sense - Ruby would be furthering her career (like the commissioner wouldn't love for her to have an opportunity like that!) and it means she might come back! Yup, I'm clinging to that until the show tells me otherwise.
