Nana - Love for Nana

Jul 18, 2006 01:36

If you follow the Japanese music, fashion, anime or movie scenes, chances are that you've heard of Nana. The story revolves around two girls, both named Nana, one of whom is the vocalist of a punk rock band while the other, well, is not. I could go into more detail, but then, you would never be able to shut me up. I'll just say that I love it. (My selection of usericons should hint as much...) It's an amazing series that rips me to pieces emotionally but somehow pulls me through when I need it to. I liken it to ripping scabs off scars and letting them bleed then heal. But see - I'm rambling already. If you want more information, I would suggest going to Google. You'll no doubt find more links than anyone can shake a stick at.

The first Nana movie was released last year, and was based on Yazawa Ai's yet unfinished manga series by that name. It was a chart-topping success, as was some of the music that accompanied its release, including Nakashima Mika's Glamorous Sky and Yuna Ito's Endless Story. Several other musical releases happened at around that time. Since then, Nana has been featured in a Playstation game, an anime series and plenty more. Again, if you're curious, take a peek around the net.

The album featured in this post is named LOVE for NANA ~Only 1 Tribute~. As the title suggests, it features tributes to the series by various artists, including Tommy Heavenly6, TETSU69, Otsuka Ai and Do As Infinity. These songs aren't used in the movie or the anime (or anything else), but contain interesting interpretations of what music from BLAST and TRAPNEST (two bands from the series) might sound like.
