Vampiric Abilities - Telepathy, regeneration, strength, ability to blood-bond (not shitting you here), and mind-fuckery (when feeding)
Vampiric Weaknesses: UV radiation, beheading, destroying the heart, inability to eat solid foods
Biology
Okay, Light is a vampire...but a vampire from his world. What this means is...he's technically not dead. His cells are living...they're just super. Yes, I said super. His heart doesn't beat, but it doesn't need to, and he can force it to beat if he has to. He can also breath, but once again, he doesn't need to. The closest thing I can think of is the vampires from the Amelia Atwater-Rhodes books...yeah. He CAN be harmed by the sun however, and UV radiation in general. He also can't properly digest solid foods, they cause him to upchuck something awful.
He regenerates most damage within minutes, but it depends on the injury. He can't regrow a lost limb, but he might be able to re-attach it given the cells haven't died yet (which they would if starved of blood). Also, Light's stomach can hold a crazy amount of blood. Really, it's like a bottomless pit, I have no idea where that shit goes. And yes, Light is a bit of a glutton. He's been spoiled for the last hundred or so years, what did you expect? It's not like he gets fat.... He can actually go a long time without blood, a month before he's in a life or death situation...but he's used to feeding at least once a day. Once in the mansion, his strength will probably start to dwendle, since his strength is tied directly to how much blood he gets.
Anyway, the only way to kill him is to completely destroy the heart, deprive him of blood, expose him to UV rays, or cut off his head.
NOW TO BLOODBONDING!
There are two types of bloodbonding...one gives you an immortal pet, the other gives you something more powerful. Truthfully, they are both done the same way, and could be considered the same thing....just one more extreme then the other. The first type is what I'll call a blood doll, the second is a goul. There's also the whole turning into a vampire thing, but I'll get into that later.
To get a blood doll, Light has to drain someone of a bit of their blood and give him some of his. That's it, really. The human will then live as long as Light does (which might not be too long, given his epic!crazy), or however long their original lifespan was. Basically it gives the human a tie to his lifespan, which is crazy, if you want to put it into dn terms.
To make a goul, Light has to drain the human a bit more and then give them more blood over a period of time, depending on how much of his power he wants to give the human.(This only happened with Mikami, and even then he had a reeeaaally fucking tight leash on him) The human then gains some of his strength.
Now, making a full vampire is tricky business. Light would have to drain a human to the point of near death, and them have them drink enough of his blood to turn...veeery risky, and something that he would never do since he wishes to keep his title of ONLY FUCKING VAMPIRE ALIVE. But I'll get to that in the history section... which is next, lucky you.

Light's history is the same as ou!Light's up until a few days before he was supposed to meet with Near in the warehouse. What happened different? Obviously, Light got bit by a vampire...just like that. This certain vampire only knew Light was Kira once he started fishing through his mind, as many vampires tend to do when they feed.

LONG STORY SHORT, LIGHT KILLS NEAR AND THE REST OF THE TASK FORCE, USES THE DEATH NOTE TO KILL ALL THE OTHER VAMPIRES(Vampires are technically considered alive and just enhanced humans. He just had to use Mikami's eyes to search for people with freaky lifespans. I'm not saying that this worked..but any surviving vamps are laying low...really low), AND BASICALLY RULES THE WORLD AND BUILD A FUCKING DOME TO KEEP OUT THE SUN...OR SOMETHING.
