So as far as media goes, this weekend has been "fast cars and 11-year gaps" weekend. I've watched Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and the first 4 episodes of "American Gothic."
Wow, that makes me look like a couch slug.
I've also spent too much money at REI to get more clothes for the upcoming trip (yay, tax holidays!), and did a little house hunting. Just in case I don't live far enough from everyone now, I was mostly looking in south Forsyth County. Cheaper townhouses than in this area (definitely), and lower taxes. It's about the same drive to my Iron Heroes game (timewise, at least; much shorter in terms of distance), and a longer drive to pretty much everywhere else I'd be going, including all LARPs and work. Okay, shorter if we ever used Fort Mountain again. Probably about the same to Black Rock Mountain. OTOH, it would mean ownership. Enh, I'll think about it. I'm in my current lease for another 6 months, anyway.
Anyway, the "fast cars" part should be obvious with the first two. The "11-year gaps" is because both Gary Cole (who is in Talladega Nights) and Lucas Black (Tokyo Drift) were in "American Gothic" when it came out 11 years ago now. That's why I saw Tokyo Drift, actually. I had no real desire to see it, but decided to make a trip to see Lucas Black's most recent movie after watching AG. I should have just watched Friday Night Lights on DVD. At least it's already hit the second-run places, so it's not like I paid full price or anything.
Oh, and my major impulse purchase this weekend was the complete series of "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." on DVD. I seem to be getting a lot of short-run complete series from about 10 years ago on DVD.
