Not As Expected...

So even after a few hours to calm down, I'm still a wee bit miffed at the most of my every-other-Tuesday gaming group.

As a little bit of background, it's about a 90-minute drive for me to get to the house where we play, because of rush hour traffic. Obviously I'm enjoying the game, because I continue to make this godawful slow drive, taking extra clothes and my necessary gaming gear to work, and driving straight out from work to the game.

Tonight, after I've been in this traffic for over an hour, including 30 minutes to go about 2 miles, my cellphone rings. It's the GM of our game, asking me if anyone had told me that the game was canceled. I blinked a few times and replied that no, no one had told me. Come to find out, no one had told him either. Someone called his house after he'd left, at the time he usually gets over to the house where we play, but no one had said anything ahead of time at all. It appears that the other three players had more or less called off the game, and not bothered to phone or e-mail or anything until about time for the game to start, by which time the GM was already over there (though no one else was), and I was almost there myself.

I turned around and came home, after ascertaining that the GM was too pissed off to be social. I don't really mind a little World of Warcraft and some LJ and some light reading, but that's certainly not the way had planned to spend my evening. I was rather looking forward to the evening's session; now it'll be another couple of weeks. Of course, that's presuming that the same sort of thing doesn't get pulled again.
