I've been thinking about something brought up in a conversation with Doris. It hadn't been brought up during the course of the conversation itself; but brought up within my mind

That's very true. Even though you may not have something forever, it does not mean you should treasure any less the time you do have it. The thing about this place is that though we do not know when we will leave, it does not always mean we will be doing so anytime soon. While some people are here for just weeks, others... well, it's been over a year and a half for me, and for some even longer. So really, people shouldn't be so quick to dismiss their time here.
Unfortunately, that is so. But I guess we just have to do what we can in the time we have, and maybe... eventually... at least one other might learn from the example.
I've always wanted to try a good kick in the pants. But we only really have hope. Even if we can't convince others, those of us who take this place as our home, for however long we are here, have to defend, mend, and help one another.
Even if it's only a few of us who give our whole heart to who we are right now, where we are right now, at least we can do something.
I suppose; sometimes that has to be enough. Funny how I still feel bitter; as if they're missing out on such a spectacular and interesting life because they refuse to understand the fact that if they create a real, tangible life here; then they can grow into something they never could before.
Currently I'm working on developing a support center for new arrivals, a safe place for people just arrived to find their bearings the first few days. Perhaps somehow through that, a new attitude can be conveyed from the beginning.
That would be wonderful. I'll be glad to assist in any way that you need.
I think a new feeling would be wonderful. I just wish we could do something about the current residents. I think we may also need to set rules. That would help with establishing The City as an independent world rather then a simple stop in.

I wish that there was some way to show others that there this; but those who don't wish to believe something won't. It's as simple as that.
