Mod Update
I have been quite the absentee mod this past year, but I want to keep everyone up to date on a very important issue. I don't know if many of you know, but there has been a recent push by a group to suspend or delete Livejounal accounts relating to pedophilia, child molestation, and incest. However, since this program is based on using the interests of accounts as it primary method of determining targets for shutdown, it has resulted in the suspension and/or deletion of fanfiction/fandom sites with no connection to the real life crimes.
Due to the very nature of our 'ship, we could be targeted for shutdown. As such, I have taken the following actions:
1) Membership in light_it is now moderated.
2) All posts to light_it will be automatically friends-locked by the system.
3) I have removed the "hot words" used to target accounts (in our case "crazy space incest")
I would like to conclude by saying that I support efforts to remove child pornography and other exploitive materials from Livejournal specifically and the internet in general, however the actions taken by the group Warriors For Innocence are, to me, ineffective and will succeed only is driving such accounts deeper into the myre of the internet, inhibiting more organized, government sanctioned methods of dealing with this issue.
