Taking a break.

It is a difficult thing for a mother to leave her newborn children. Alison doesn't think of it as "leaving", really. It's more that she's handed them over to two people who would have snatched them away sooner or later, anyway. Somehow, she got even less argument than she thought she would when she asked the twins' live-in grandparents to watch

Longshot had heard the steps coming up behind him. His wife was not trained to be stealthy, and he had been trained to listen better. He still didn't expect his vision to disappear though. one second, he had his pygmy marmoset on the ropes, the next he couldn't even see the ropes.

Maponos squeaked a reply before Longshot got past the confusion of why his wife was asking him to guess. He knew who she was! He hadn't forgot.

"Uhm, the sexiest Mommy anywhere?"

"Well... you're partially right." She grinned and moved her hand. Then she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and leaned against him from behind. No belly in the way! Yay! "It's the sexiest Mommy who wants to spend some time with the world's sexiest Daddy."

She hugged him tight for a minute. Then she kissed his shoulder. "Happen to know a guy who fits that description and wants to spend some time with me?"

"Hmm." He hummed thoughtfully as he let Maponos go. The pygmy marmoset scampered up his arm to pounce and hold onto Alison's ear. Ha ha! Hangies!

"I think Maponos is guessing it's him. But how about me?"

Alison giggled and caught Maponos gently. She snuggled the little marmoset for a moment and then put him carefully down on top of his cage.

"Well, he is adorable..." She stepped around and slipped her arms around his neck. "But, I like my men taller, blonder, and Longshot-er."

She leaned up and kissed him. Then she gave him a teasing smile and a wink. "So, yeah... you'll do."

The little simian disappeared into his cage. When the two hairless, big monkeys started slobbering on each other, he figured it was time for him to play inside his cage.

"I will, huh?" He slipped his arms around her. "Know anybody more Longshot-er than me?"

"Yup, you will." She snuggled in and smiled up at him with her chin resting on his chest. "Hmmm. More Longshot-er than you? Nope. Can't think of anyone right off hand."

"So, what do you say, cutie? Want to go out on a date with me?"

"A date?" He was a little surprised. He hadn't thought she would want to leave the castle until she had to after the twins were born. "I'd like that."

He wasn't going to pass it up though.

"Yup. Maybe not a big fancy one, but what would you say to dinner and maybe some ice skating?" The natural bodies of water probably weren't frozen or if they were, not solid enough for skating. But, there was an indoors rink near the movie theater. Robbie mentioned it in passing once.

"You can even have Sake if you want. I might have a little, too." She grinned.

His hands slipped from around her waist to grab her butt. "Sounds great. Especially since great only needs to be with you."

He kissed her. And squeezed at the same time. He was talented that way. He pulled back to give her a wink. "Let's go, buttercup."

Alison laughed and went up on her toes a little at the butt grabbing. That was okay, though. It put her into a better position for kissing her husband back. Maybe that was his plan all along? Uh huh.

Right.

She grinned at the wink and nodded. "Okay, sweetheart. I'm ready when you are."

It wasn't presumptuous to have dressed already with the expectation that her husband would say yes, right?

"Okay!" he enthused as he grabbed her hand and immediately pulled her toward the stairs. All he needed to do was put on shoes and a jacket and he was raring to go.

He did stop at the top of the steps, wrap his arms beneath her butt, hoist her up, and kiss her with every bit of gusto he had. Then he carefully set her down close to the wall. Just so she would have something to balance against. He kissed her cheek. "Comin'?"

Then he started hopping down the stairs.

"Wooo..." Okay, that was probably not the answer he was expecting. But, it was about all Alison could offer after that kiss. Her lips were still buzzing. Wow.

She steadied herself on the wall for a moment and then shook her head to clear it. She was definitely coming if there were more kisses like that to be had.

She hurried down the steps to catch up with him and grabbed one of his hands. "Sneaky husband."

Sometimes, Longshot liked to surprise people. Especially his wife. He was chuckling to himself when she caught up to him. He gave her hand a squeeze.

"Mmmmaybe you're married to a ninja." They were sneaky as a rule. Though not usually with kisses. He slowed his stair hopping down to keep up with Alison.

Longshot specialized in surprising his wife. It was one of the things she loved about him.

"You think so? Hmmm. I heard that ninjas were sneaky." She grinned and squeezed his hand back. She swung their hands together as they went down. Part of her was very nervous about leaving the babies behind. But, another part of her was really, really looking forward to spending time with Longshot.

Longshot would miss his babies, but he could very well distract himself with their mother. Which is all he was thinking about at the moment. When they got to the bottom of the stairs, he used his grip on her hand to turn her into his arms. There was no pause as he dipped and kissed her soundly.

She was having a date with him. He was trying very hard to make it something special. When he stopped kissing, he held her in that dipped position. It might help her get her breath back.

"Mmmmmmmmmmmm..." Alison smiled and didn't open her eyes immediately after the kiss. She would have been dizzy anyway. Instead she took a minute to catch her breath and then she laughed softly.

"I love you," she murmured as she finally opened her eyes and reached up with one hand to stroke his cheek lightly. It was definitely starting out to be a special date.
