On I-90, the first toll booths on the Massachusetts side of the border are nestled on the south side of a curving line of hills. It's a lovely spot. The hills are covered with conifers, mostly pine, I think. Since the road is usually quite empty when I'm traveling, I get to admire them as I'm slowing down. Yesterday it was snowing lightly. The trees were covered in such a way that from a distance, they looked like nonpareils.. speckled. Palest grey, misty clouds covered the tops and formed a backdrop for the mountains. It was beautiful.
