so I play

An update, it's a new year after all. And of course, a new moment for an old story:

A farmer planted many trees in his grove. Some trees would bear fruit, received in due season. The farmer had more than he needed and reasoned simply he should give as freely as he received.

Soon neighbors grew to love and in some ways depend on the fruit. Also, strangers could pick whatever they wanted. Naturally, as the fruit began to run low, the trees that did not bear fruit became more apparent.

Going out into his grove, he located all these fruitless trees and one by one removed them. After a season passed, he planted seeds from the fruit bearing trees in the wide open empty spaces.

And the farmer's hands were now free because he could give away a greater portion than he received.
