It's been a while
So I decided my 3 year old G-4 needed a face lift. New video card, max out the RAM, new Radeon 9800, 350 Gig hard drive to replace the second 80.
two weeks ago tonight it all arrived. I began with the the processor- simple- unscrew replace connect close . Nope. Replaced the old processor and I added the RAM turned on -OK
Then tried the processor again. Now the fun begins a series of problems. By Sunday night when I turned on G4 -nothing but a blinking light on the monitor.
I thought I killed the poor box. Turns out the Ram was incompatible or bad but. in a fit of frustration and after Dan said -just get a G-5. I went on line and ordered a
-- 4x2.5Ghz, 2.5 GB SDRAM Yadda yadda ZIPP!
Took me a week to transfer all of those old reliable (but long forgotten disks) photoshop,dvd ripping, lets not mention passwords.
So here I am two weeks later and my entire tax refund gone. The G-4 sits on the floor- Dan will get a very nice box to replace his G-3 to check email. With lots of room to store just about anything.
I have just discover Vlogs - well upgrading from my sony Clie to an iPod 60 Gig My 12 days of music and misc vintage movies all fit with heaps of room. Much to spare. yet. Makes for riding the red/green line to work actually enjoyable.
So Vlogs. I've been following Brad at Willing Warrior and Feast of Fools.
Ya- know it's rather great. for an almost 50 me to get to listen to late 20's - Not that I haven't been in some contact- Alden was 20 years younger _Chicken Hawk??? ME?? It was interesting to date someone who could be my son- for a while. good memories,
Well, he's in Australia and living larger than life I suspect.
