Randomly searching eBay, I came upon a book... A published book... Called "Meeting Damian Lewis". Seemed kinda cute, like glorified fanfiction, from the Amazon.com preview.
Has anyone read it or own it by chance? What's your take on it--was it good? If so, could I borrow it or buy it from you in an eBay auction or something? $15 is a bit much for a curiousity buy.
Meeting Damian Lewis
"Dear Damian Lewis, I have seen all your television series and really admire your work. I especially liked you in Band of Brothers, and think you are a very good actor. It would be wonderful if we ever had the chance to meet up, perhaps at a social function?" Best wishes, Becky. x
After watching Band of Brothers on television Ruby Reed develops a crush on the actor Damian Lewis and becomes convinced that their destiny is to meet. She enlists the reluctant help of TV Producer, Jack Green, and her hapless friend Sally. Jack is not really able to help. He produces low budget documentaries and his company is struggling. He is missing his son, now living with his ex wife in Scotland. Ruby, divorced and lonely is working in a wine bar. It seems that everyone in London has met the actor, but her. She tries his drinking haunts and even tries to revive her long dead acting career . but to no avail. Damian Lewis seems to slip further and further from her clutches as she reads about his life in the gossip columns.
But all this changes when she goes to the cinema and boasts that she could have written a better story. Sally challenges her to try. Ruby rises to the occasion and takes a writer's course, and then tells a bemused Jack: ".. so I am going to write something and invite Damian Lewis to be in it". "Ah!" said Jack simply. She creates her alter ego, Becky, who tells the story through her eyes. Becky imagines a letter from Damian Lewis; Dear Becky, I was thrilled to get your letter and thank you for your comments about my work. I am passing your area of South West London and may well drop by if you say it is ok. Damian. Kiss. P.S. Is it ok if I wear my World War Two uniform?"
So, does Ruby ever get to meet her hero? Well you will have to read it to find out!
