I'm jumping in... Something to break up the pissy BS I've been writing about. Everyone knows I do a lot with photography (even though I've gotten really bad with posting pictures...), so I'm going to pick another one of my loves - music.
My poor iPod used to get teased because it was so random - in 12 minutes, you'd jump from Silverchair to Kenny G to Britney Spears to Genesis. Yeah, I was that cool. One thing you'll never find in my collection? The Beatles. I'm sorry, I can't get in to it.
I figure I'll leave it pretty broad so I've got some wiggle room with my posts - favorite songs, most hated songs, stupidest songs I've ever heard, songs that have changed my life...
SONG # 1 -- MMMBop by Hanson
Click to viewSure, have your laugh, but these guys & this song changed my life. It's the song that introduced me to 15 years worth of music that would help me in good times & bad. It's how I met my best friend. Halloween 1999, she was dressed up as a Britney Spears groupie & I thought, "OK, she's an interesting one..." Then she said that she was a Hanson groupie the year before. Instant friendship. I won tickets to one of their concerts summer 2000 & that sealed our "best friendship." That concert was filmed - watch Live at the Fillmore & you'll see the back of our heads!
These are the songs that got me through - and still get me through - the best & worst times of the past 15 years. Yes, I'm justifying my love of Hanson. If you still think they're just MMMBop, you should pull up their more recent work. Their music has grown and developed so much over the years and it's perfection. And yes, for years I dreamt of marrying Taylor Hanson. Nessah & I still joke about the fact that he's got 4 - soon to be 5 - kids with a woman that's not one of us. =]
