Hey guys!
As the title may suggest, I am indeed updating from the state of Oregon. I've been here just about a week. It was definitely an adventure getting here. I spent a total of 24 hours in transit - 9 of which were spent on the benches in the San Francisco airport. Gah! It was horrible at the time, but I'm over it now. My plane from Philadelphia was late, and I had to take a shuttle across the airport to a different terminal. I got there 10 minutes before the departure time, but they had already left. I got to the gate and the door was closed and the guy was like "Oh, it's gone... yeah... it's gone..." and I just started bawling. The last flight was only an hour long, and I had already been on planes for 7 hours and I just wanted to see Jared. I got put on a stand by flight for the next morning, which made me nervous since the plane was so small. Well it turned out alright and I was able to get on the plane in the morning, but it was close.
I have been having lots of fun here for the past week. I forgot the cord to my digital camera, so I can't post or send any pictures. But I will be sure to when I get back. There are lots and lots of mountains, and it's really pretty. Right now it is rainy. But we did have a couple of good days. We went for a few hikes and walks in the park with the doggies - Luigi and Homer, went swimming at the YMCA, and saw the Chronicles of Narnia. And had lots of salsa!
Ooh and I've had some yummy Afghan food. Jared's Aunt Zabia made us a good Christmas Eve dinner with rice and montoo (I don't know how to spell it, but that's how you say it). The other night his grandmother made us some Afghan bread, and tonight we are going to have something called bulani. His family is really sweet, and his grandfather is so cute! I am having a lot of fun :)
Also, I have some pretty awesome news... Yesterday Jared got his reacceptance letter to Hampshire. And he's already bought a plane ticket - on the same plane as me! Yay!!!! I am so happy. That means that he'll be hanging around Bristol for the few weeks before we go back to school. So we can all hang out!
Right now I am writing this and waiting for some laundry to finish up. Jared bought a black light yesterday, and so he is doing some experiment with strontium chloride. Luigi and Homer are hanging out. I don't know where his mom is. Soon I am going to take a shower and get ready for the day. Silly East Coast time. Hehe :)
See you guys soon!
- Sarah :)
