1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.
1. Ron Weasley - actually, Ron's not my favorite character in the book, Hermione is, but Ron reminds me a lot of my husband, and not just in looks. I like how "human" Ron is - he is most definitely not a two demenisional sidekick character like the movies made him to be. Ron's weakness makes him endearing. My favorite part of Deathly Hallows was the chapter when Ron destroyed one of the horcrux, and in order to do that he had to face his inner demons. I know from life experience that battling yourself is so much harder than battling an enemy. And, I love Harry's words to Ron about what Dumbledore knew about him :"he must have always known that you'd come back." My husband reminds me of Ron because like Ron, he is not sure of himself and sometimes lacks confidence. And like Ron, he is definitely not the ladies' man (the image of Ron trying to screw up the courage to talk to Fleur Delacour comes to mind when he tells me about how shy he was during high school). Like Hermione who wouldn't want to go to the Christmas party with Cormac McLaggen in the first place, I wouldn't trade my hubby for anyone in the world.
2. Ross Geller - this is not common knowledge but I am a "Friends" fan. I started watching it in season one and if I had to choose one of the 6, I'd say Ross is my favorite friends character. What I like about Ross is probably the same reasons I like Ron Weasley - Ross is a cute nerd. And cute nerds in high school tends to grow up into cute, sweet, and caring nerd geeks. One thing I love about Ross is how passionate he feels about his career. Sure, the other five friends yawns whenever Ross mentions paleontology, but I love hearing about it because you can see how Ross feels about his work when he goes on a tangent like that. Another thing I love about Ross is his love for Rachel. Yes they have their ups and downs and if I had to judge I'd say the break up was his fault even though I have to acknowledge human beings have weaknesses, but Ross and Rachel were meant to be together. One of my favorite Ross and Rachel moments was in season 2 (I think?). They had just started dating and they were taking care of Ben for the weekend (who was just learning to talk) and Rachel and Ross had a argument because she was shocked to find out he had already planned the rest of their life together. I love how Ross says "well deal with it because you're with a guy that is going to plan the rest of our lives together because he knows we're meant to be." To me, those words say I love you.
3. Rabb, Harmom (JAG) - First of all, I want to say thankfully I wasn't a fan of JAG in the early seasons, because if I were I would have wanted to strangle the powers that be for giving shipper fans the excruciating slow dance between Harm and Mac. I got into JAG though reruns (on USA network, I think), and the relationship between Harm and Mac caught my interest so I begin searching for fanfiction about them. Several words caught my attention, like Australia, and Paraguay. I knew what Australia was refering to, having seen that epsiode, but only had a vague idea about what Paraguay was about. Recently, I saw the Paraguay episodes on USA, and at the end I was thinking "what! Harmon Rabb you do not know the oppotune moment when you see one!" I think that's what Harm's character mean to me, scared of relationship, scared of committment, but yet he's a good man (for the honor of the Navy and country) so that's why Mac's heart have always belonged to him.
4. Roslin, Laura (Battlestar Galactica) - I find it hard to pinpoint Roslin's character because sometimes she seems nice and a good leader but at other times, and especially when dealing with Gaius Baltar she seems manipulative. But, her character is a politican, so when I think about it now her personality (or how she deals with things) makes sense.
5. Ryo Saeba (City Hunter) - City Hunter is a japanese manga I fell in love with in middle school. The story is about Ryo Saeba, a for hire "sweeper" living in Tokyo. He and his partner Kaori Makimura makes the team of "City Hunter," someone you can contact if one needs help in "getting things taken care of." The USA tv show, Burn Notice, kind of reminds me of it in the way that Michael "takes care of things" for the innocent that comes to him for help. Ryo is 180 opposite of Michael in personality. He's a pervert, is often lead by his hormones, and comically "attack" woman on the streets for dates. The artist who drew Ryo Saeba choose to make him "the imperfect James Bond" so to speak. Interestingly, despite Ryo's infatuation with all beautiful woman and sex, he has a kind heart that loves - but not romantically. Ryo loves his partner Kaori, who was also his best friend's adopted sister, and Ryo promised on his best friend's death bed that he would watch over Kaori. In addition, Ryo always "pretends" Kaori is not pretty enough for him to fall for, and Kaori is drawn as a tomboyish type of girl but as the partnership evolves the two of them becomes the best of friends, have complete trust with each other (you kinda have to, in their kind of business), and gradually fall in love with each other but denies the feelings. City Hunter is also one of the funniest manga I've ever read and it's a favorite of mine to reread over and over again.
