so last year i was invited to surprise katie for her birthday with a keytar song. mummy musical was just beginning and i was beginning to find myself in the suite late at night gobbling up time with monica, abs, bethany, and katie...how lucky am i?
this year, i got to share more birthday joy with katie by taking a little trip with doug and pat to LEBANON, pa. it might seem like we stayed in her apt. for almost 24 hours straight just "chillin" but when you combine multiple "lights" in a small space "chillin" takes on new meaning. i don't think too many people would find our time as hilarious and fulfilling as we do, but that's the point right?
i mean...we played pretend. serious "house" pretend. this game of pretend was a little more advanced than the average mom cooking and feeding baby, dad reading the paper and mowing the lawn, and kids fighting over the blue crayon. this game was intricate and lovely. it made me miss the days of playing hotel/restaurant in the basement with my little sister. haha - korinne.
seeing friends in nyc was superb. i like that i know lots of people who live/work in nyc. chels got to show us where she works, which happens to be mtv...so cool it hurts yikes! for dinner, we met up with more people (pat's friends from home). this was special and funny because we got to meet the people we quote all the time when we quote cabin/squatch movies. they were fun kids. we played apples to apples for a very long time. best group of people i have ever played that game with. i miss people a lot. i miss them and their little things they do that are special to them. i rode on the subway for the first time ever. i have been on the subway in boston and the metro in paris, but not nyc. i have been to the city more times than i can count on school trips or with my family, but never used the subway...
my family/extended pseudo family thoroughly entertained doug and pat while we were in m-ville. those two even jumped on the tramp with my sister. korinne loved them. she is nuts. she didn't waste any time be shy that's for sure...
i almost ruined the trip several times, but it turned out to be a delight. great trip guys.
