Its pretty funny when...

You see an entire side of people you never really got to know and wonder what life would have been had they been your normal life.

I just got back from my grandparents house in Arkansas, and boy, it was both the most interesting and boring occasion of my life. I had absolutely nothing to do, but I learned so much about my mom's side of the family I simply could not do with talking to my grandparents on the phone.

My granddad is the most sarcastic and witty person I have ever met. 80 years old and still kickin'. He hated being in the hospital so much, since he was having surgery while I was there, that he decided to walk around by himself and tried to get out of there... but he fell. Although he only cut his hand, I was inspired by the fact that he won't give up. He has been suffering from Diabetes for over 25 years and almost lost his left leg due to it. Even though he can barely walk, let alone see or even hear, he still wants to be as active as he can. Plus he loves making jokes and telling me everything about the British and Zulu wars.

And my Mimi (my grandma) is the sweetest lady I have ever met. No matter how stubborn my granddad is she still sticks by him think and thin, and I really admired her stamina for his stubbornness, and just how she cares so much for every single person she knows. She also makes the best food... which has kept me fed for the past week, so I don't mind. She even leaves me little chocolates before I go to bed every night.

But this got me to thinking. What would my life be like had I grown up with my parents in Arkansas living a mile from my grandparents, just like I do now with my dad's parents. I don't really know, but it was interesting to see if I would actually enjoy spending time with my grandparents and what kind of person would I have become. Its also somewhat interesting to see how freaked out my dad's parents are now that they think my whole family wants to move to Arkansas. They are so worried, and I don't know why. They don't really like my dad.

Whatever that was all about, all I know is that I am glad I am home. I really missed it. But it was crazy to survive with a barely working internet, no TV, and nothing else really stimulating except for the occasional phone call. I don't know; its too late.
