Washington DC trip with PHOTOS!!!!!
Rebecca and Jason’s Trip to Washington DC.
This is the trip Rebecca won! She was a team leader at kidscom.com, a kid’s site that teaches kids about caring for the earth, and the winning team won a 4 day, 3 nights stay to Washington DC to learn about “going green”. Kidscom paid for everything! It was for Rebecca and 3 of her team members and one parent for each kid.
A huge thank you to all our family members that gave Rebecca spending money for the trip!
Day One:
I just talked to Jason, he sounded soooo tired.lol
He said he thinks that they walked about 20 miles so far. haha
They left the house around 4ish this morning and got to Washington DC around 1ish. It was both their first time flying but he said it went fine. They got through all the airports just fine and ate all the snacks I sent. (I found an earth day tote bag and filled it with trail mix, granola bars, dried fruit, and crackers.)
Kidscom's staff was there at the airport, 3 staff people and picked them and the other 3 team members up. It's four 10 year old girls and 4 dads. LOL Funny that it's the dads that all ended up being able to go. Jason said all the girls were shy at first but now that won't shut up, they have been chattering non-stop. heh They all got in a van and drove to the hotel to drop off their stuff and JASON LEFT THE CAMERA AT THE HOTEL so no photos for the rest of the day! Anyways, they walked to a deli for sandwiches and then to the capital building where they got to see the senators in session and met the Minnesota senator but of course NO PHOTOS! Argggh! (I'm so going to kill him for that.) Then they walked to eat dinner at Ted’s Montana Grill. He called me while they were walking back. He said the girls all wanted to go swimming in the pool and he would call me again before bed.
He said the rooms and hotel are NICE! They are on the 10th floor.
How are Jarod and Alex doing?
Jarod was really sad that he couldn’t go so I had asked him what he wanted to do and he said he wanted to go visit Aunt Kim. It’s a 2 hour drive but I didn’t want to be at home all day worrying about the flights so I told him we could go. He had so much fun playing with cousin Emma and messing up cousin Jacob’s room! He got to watch movies with Emma, play outside and Kim made us soy burgers and homemade ice cream! Alex did his best to destroy her beautiful house while he chased around their cute dog.
When we got back to our town I picked up a frozen pizza and took Jarod to the movie store and told him he could pick out any 5 movies he wanted. Every single time that we rent movies they always ask ‘Do you want the snack box with 2 boxes of movie candy, 2 bottles of pop and a bucket of popcorn.’ And I always say no but this time I paused and said “Yes!” Jarod’s eyes popped open and he said “Really!!!? They have been asking you that for YEARS and I always hope you will say yes but you never do!” lol I had to search through all the candy to find 2 that were dye free. When we got home we all sat on the couch and watched movies and filled out tummies with pizza, popcorn, candy and sierra mist. (Oh my goodness I am so sick today from all that junk.)
Then came bedtime…..they have never gone to bed without Jason here. It did not go well.
Jarod cried and said it wasn’t safe I his room so I said he could sleep in out room but he said it wasn’t safe there either so I asked him where it was safe and he said in the most pitiful voice, “Where ever daddy is?” :-( I let him watch movies on the couch until he fell asleep, when he woke up in the middle of the night he crawled in our bed.
And Alex just creamed for over an hour “Daddy in bed right there *pointing to Jason’s spot* daddy in bed right there where daddy daddy in bed please daddy in bed!!!” It was sooooo sad, he finally wore himself out and feel asleep.

Day 2:
They walked to the Smithsonian and Jason said Rebecca loved it, that they got to see a lot of interesting stuff. Rebecca got to hold a huge caterpillar! They also used their GPS devices to go Geocacheing while they walked. They were eating lunch at the Smithsonian and then were heading over to talk to some of the congress members about earth day and then go to the Martin Luther King Jr. Library for some event. He said they’ve taken 200 photos so far. lol they are having dinner at a pizza place and then for the rest of the night are going to hang out at the hotel because the girls are exhausted from all the walking.
Rebecca got on the phone and said she was having SO MUCH FUN!
It was so cute. Rebecca always makes me breakfast so this morning Jarod brought me a piece of toast! He said since she wasn’t here he didn’t want me to starve. lol
Did I mention that my laptop crashed about an hour before Jason left? Yeah…..so he didn’t have time to fix it so that sucks! I can use Jason’s computer to do e-mail but all my stuff is on my laptop, arggh!
I’ve been cleaning non-stop to keep my mind occupied. Rebecca’s room was totally trashed so I spent 3 hours cleaning it - she had some gross stuff in there, rotten food - YUCK!
I just checked the kidscom website and this was posted! I actually
cried because I miss her so much and the photo didn't help! lol

Day 3:
I miss Jason and Rebecca!!!
Today we went out and I let Jarod get a movie from the Redbox and then we stopped by the Chinese buffet and got take out. We brought it home and ate our lunch while watching the movie Jarod got. (He is going to be so spoiled from all the movies and eating on the couch. lol.)After lunch we went and visited my friend Deanna and Jarod and Alex had a lot of fun playing with little Gary and Malina. For dinner I decided that I could not stand the sight of any more junk so we went to the store and I got a huge watermelon! Yum! We ate the whole thing. lol
Jason said that the hotel suits had a huge bedroom with a queen bed, a living room with a sofa bed, a nice bathroom, and a kitchen. He took the living room and gave the bedroom to Rebecca and he said she was so excited and soon had her clothes, books and granola bars all over the room.
I just checked the kidscom website and they had some more photos posted and 2 videos! She was
having so much fun, in one of them the girls were all running ahead while the dads dragged their feet in the background looking really really tired! :-)
They are spending the whole day at zoo today, doing a river clean-up, going to an Asia animal event. They will have lunch at the Panda Grill and then pizza at the hotel.

Day 4
They packed everything up this morning; Jason said they had a hard time getting everything to fit because they had so many souvenirs. lol Rebecca, bless her heat, spent all her spending money of items for Alex. She misses him so much, Jason said she talked about him the whole trip.
They got to the airport on time (10:00am) but the flight was cancelled. He waited in line for over an hour to get another flight! They got him another flight but it doesn't leave until 5:00pm so they have a lot of time to kill at the airport. They WILL be home tonight though so that's all that matters!

12 postcards that she mailed out to everyone. ($10)
AND…instead of getting herself anything more she spent the rest of her money ($30!) on this zoo set for Alex because she saw that is was all natural wood (I only get him safe wood toys.) and she knew he would love it! And he did!
