Does anyone else suspect a certain scene didn't make the final cut?

Given how at ease the Doctor and Martha seemed to be with one another in that final scene before the TARDIS took off, if she was really intending that to be her goodbye, it strikes me as being curious she addressed none of her speech to him. Likewise, his quiet on the subject was a ( Read more... )

I did enjoy the episode tremendously, and I thought she seemed more comfortable with writing Martha this time round - because it's such a Martha thing to be kind to an evil clone - which is why I do think a scene got cut, rather than Raynor having not written it at all. But her two parters do end up repeating the emotional stuff - like year we had Martha talk about the crush twice to the same person, this year Donna's scenes with her grandad were all very similar in content. (although more Wilf is always lovely.)

I'm just scared about how they've explained the Doctor's got a daughter all of a sudden - because I can foresee major explosions of hate from certain quarters...

I dont think for an instant she's Rose's daughter, and if she really is his daughter through procreated means, at the most they might drop a fun, obscure hint she's Romana's. But I do think it's interesting that they pulled Martha along for an episode which is clearly going to emotionally rock the Doctor - because we all know Martha is brilliant at dealing with that...

The TARDIS is at it's best when there are three, and these three are such a marvellous combination! I hope they're explored more next week, because they all offer such different things whilst working together so well. I'd love a season of just them - hugging and boxing the doctor and sharing the massive amounts of love they clearly have!

There were some bits I really loved - and not all of them were Martha moments (I may be batshit but I'm not totally batshit !), but as usual the skience was so duff even a total non-scientist like me noticed it (and that annoys me, because I want the skience to be at least vaguely believable if I suspend my disbelief...)

I don't think it matters whether she's Rose, Romana's or Reinette's - I foresee that certain sections of fandom will totally explode if it's any one of those three. I'm really hoping for a weird-DNA-experiment-gone-wrong (esp since Stephen G already has experience in writing one of those in a different context).

But I do think it's interesting that they pulled Martha along for an episode which is clearly going to emotionally rock the Doctor - because we all know Martha is brilliant at dealing with that...

*nods* The TARDIS, in particular, knows this so that's why she kidnapped Martha when Jack's Doctor detector went "ding" ! (Hee, yeah, I am batshit enough to pair Martha with the TARDIS - so sue me !)

I really REALLY wish we could have had a whole season of these three because they do work very well together (Martha would let Ten be angsty and Donna would ensure he didn't get TOO angsty by mocking him !)

I strongly suspect Helen Raynor flunked GCSE science - her version of it is so refreshingly special! I was sitting there watching it with a flatmate, and we were both calling out "AIR DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT".

And different sects of fandom explode weekly anyway. As long one wears one's shields, it'll probably be quite fun to watch. I do hope there's an indication she's somone's daughter, and not just the result of a machine - which seems just too dry. It's brilliant going through Five's run and trying to figure out where exactly he could have stopped off for a bit! :D

Martha/TARDIS OTP, seriously. She put one foot back indoors and wasn't allowed to leave again!

And yes, they're both so good for the Doctor in their own ways, and for one another. It really is Dream Team v2.0...

Exactly ! As I said, I'm not a scientist (I did O level Physics and scraped through but most science goes over my head) but I still knew it was rubbish, like the whole lightning-powered-DNA-exchange thing last year... It doesn't matter if the FX are pretty, I need to be able to at least *vaguely* believe the skience !

Hee ! I love the way everyone's assuming she's Five's daughter on the basis that GM really is PD's daughter !

So who's your Dream Team v1.0 - out of curiosity?

Oh, there's no way the sixth doctor had anything to do with that girl... :D

Ah, well in Nu-Who terms Dream Term v1.0 goes to Nine/Rose/Jack, who again all offered something different whilst being so at ease with each other. But if we're talking old school, I'm in reams of negative numbers - between One/Susan/Ian/Babs/, Two/Jamie/Zoe, and Five/Nyssa/Tegan/Adric, I'm spoilt for choice (and it's wonderful!)

Well no - but there have been ten incarnations, so...

Oh I wasn't restricting you to RTD!Who ! My fave TARDIS teams are Martha/10/Donna, Four/Sarah/Harry and Two/Zoe/Jamie - I've simply not re-watched enough of any of the others to be able to get behind them.

Very true, which is why with all that potential, I can't help think it wouldn't be quite as much fun if she is simply mad of skience!

Four/Sarah/Harry = so much love. I was watching the Zygon episode the other day and they made me utterly gleeful.

Eep, I'm getting late for a class - do you mind if I friend you? :)

True enough !

I was re-watching Robot (for about the 5th time) on Sat and nearly bouncing out of my chair (Harry is my TV boyfriend !)
