on my last trip to Powells before moving to New Orleans, i picked up a new book at random, and it's set up a rain cheaction.
um.
branding was the only reason that it caught my eye at all; at the time, Dzur had been fairly new to the shelves and Brust was still reeling in the fact that it was a "SciFi essential" book, an endorsement by the SciFi channel. This had a similar sort of endorsement, so i decided to skim the first couple of pages to see if it would hook me, and it did. i read it off and on, finished it sometime in the beginning of last fall. i gave it a second casual read sometime in the winter. i really liked it.
over memorial day weekend i was at the bookstore for a few reasons and opted to pick up books two and three while i was there, thinking that it'd occupy my space for a couple of weeks. i picked up those books on sunday late afternoon. Both of them have now been read. i read the first book in one sitting on sunday night from about midnight until 6am. i read the second one in one sitting monday night until 4am.
i just couldn't put them down.
there's about a dozen books or so in the series. he's written other series as well.
my mantle/bookshelf may need some reorganizing.
oh! right. it's The Dresden Files, a series by Jim Butcher.
my sleep schedule is all backwards again. hopefully i can adjust quickly.
