Letter from Occidental College

First things first: I DON'T PLAY FOOTBALL. I CAN'T EVEN CATCH OR TACKLE OR DO ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER.

You know what, Oliver?

We need you here.

We just ended our season with a wild 67-61 loss to our conference rival.  A lot of coaches would try to sugar-coat that to a recruit like you that we really want in uniform here next year, but not me.  I want you to know that not going to the NCAA playoffs is unacceptable to us.

We only had two losses this year, but this program has higher goals than most programs you might be looking at.  We’re used to being champions.  We’re used to being one of the teams to beat in the NCAA playoffs.

So what does all this have to do with you?

Simple. You’re part of my plan to get us back on top.

There’s a lot more we want to talk about with you, but we need to know something: Are you seriously interested in being a part of Tiger Football next season?  If you are, reply back to my e-mail with one of the following responses:

·        YES! I know that’s where I want to be, Coach!  Please contact me.

·        I THINK SO, Coach.  But I have questions…Please Contact me.

·        I DON’T KNOW...I’ve got lots of questions.  Please Contact me.

Fair enough, Oliver?  You tell us what you’re thinking, and after you get back to us we’ll be getting back to you personally.  We’ll answer your questions, talk to you about Occidental and what we can offer, and try to put together a plan for you.

We need to hear back from you soon…because we’re putting together our final list of prime recruits in the near future.
