I was riding the city bus into downtown today with my friend Heather, when a handicapped man in a wheel chair got onto the bus. After the bus driver had finished strapping the man's chair down, she inquired about the bus fare, a mere 75 cents for elderly/handicapped, to which the man replied "I have no money, I was robbed last night."
Some people might say that the man was just lying so as to not pay the money, but I was there, and I heard the pain in his voice, and I was indignant. I don't understand what makes people feel that they must prey on the disabled and elderly, the very people of the society that are the most helpless. It brings my blood to a boil to think that most of the people who do these heinous acts are probably sporting cell phones, $25,000 cars and have a secure job, most of which the handicapped can't claim for themselves.
When will this shit stop?
