Hobokie

Quite a trip from Kankakee to Hoboken and back. We ended up driving straight from Kankakee to Hoboken with a few pit stops for food/dog issues in about 15 hours. That's not too bad. Indiana and Ohio make up the most boring stretch of land that's drivable, however Pennsylvanian mountains at night are quite interesting. I don't even want to explain what happened in Hoboken when we finally got there, other than i'll mention we wasted a total of six hours driving through crazy turnpikes looking for places that were not correctly labeled. The move was good though and didn't take too long. Lindsay has a very nice place that's in a upscale champaign-esque city. The convenience of NY makes it even more appealing. We spent a good amount of time over there doing the traditional tourists things. However, we did end up doing something that isn't traditional and was quite funny/scary at first.

Urban Comedy Club So we were walking around times square just being midwest tourists when a man approached us with discounted tickets to a comedy club. So what the hey, we'll take them. The tickets gave you a number with which to call and make a reservation for the show you wanted to see and there were 4 shows on the ticket. Three of them SEEMED normal and one said latino show, so we called to make a reservation and the only show they had left was the midnight airing. We jumped on it without a thought. So we arrive at the comedy club about a half hour early and start to realize that every single person in line besides us is black. I'm not really concerned but Lindsay thinks something is up and then decides to read who the performers were for the night and they all had appeared on BET. So, she asks to see the ticket and underneath the midnight show was small print that said "urban". urban=black. So we debated if we should bail seeing as we'd be the only caucasian folk from the midwest in this urban show, but we stayed. Turned out some more white people came that were probably confused as we were. So the crowd was 90/10 black to white and almost all the comedians were black. So, turns out this show was hilarious. The guys were funny and the emcee was ripping on people the entire night, and I was included. I had to sit in the front row in front of the comedians and the emcee was making fun of some girl about how she enjoys getting tea bagged by men. "I bet you put sugar on your mouth first (licks lips)" and then he turns to me and says " I bet you want to be teabagged huh" and I mistook that as if I wanted to have that same girl be the recipient of my teabagging. Hence, I responded "YEAHHH" (shoulders shrugged) and the crowd busted out with laughter. SHIT, he meant I wanted to get the tea bagging... ohh well it happens. I was ridiculed in front of a bunch of people but luckily the show was hilarious and he picked on numerous people, so I wasn't the only retard. The only negative to the night was that there was a two-drink minimum and after we ordered two cokes and two coronas it came to 26 bucks. DAMN. It was worth it though to go to a BET-ish comedy show.

The rest of the time in Hoboken and New York was spent eating, Central Park, walking, more eating, driving, taking twizz to the park, sleeping, contra, lotr, and trying to win the RENT lottery which didn't work. So overall it was a good time and hopefully i'll be going back soon, road trip?

My ankle still hurts and I'm going to the doctor thursday, yeah sucks.
