My life is right now in a lovely sort of sweet disarray...and it's all his fault. Second time around too. Sheesh.
Poem:
"Deja Vu" by Hayley Crowell
So here we are
A year from then
But are we still the same?
365 risings
365 settings
And yet it feels the same
We were as strangers
Couldn't look, couldn't see
The passing of the days
Reflected back at me
And I know you've changed
As have I, my friend
But here we are
And nothing is different
The ice is cracking
Steams seeps through
As we begin anew
And thus begins deja vu
I can feel the difference
The bonds like magnets
Drawing us together
And no one tries to avoid it
The boundaries that
Held me in check before
Are broken down with all the speed
Of a fiery stampede
Challenge breeds necessity
And my hand finds yours
Again and again
And it seems to be more
Than a coincidence of fate
Surely it is my fault, then
That we both were brought back to this place.
It was I who dangled the bait, yes.
But it was you, my friend, who took it.
We are equally at fault.
And as I relearn who you are
Everything becomes clearer
But still I won't smile
Taking too many chances isn't my style
But speaking in tongues has never been easier
And it's a privilege reserved just for me
We shared many conversations, my friend.
As the miles rolled by and our lives with them
The others flitting in and out
But it's always back to me and you
And I strain my grip
To hold onto these days forever
As they fleetingly blaze by,
A blip on the roadside as
The bus drives on.
How easily I get under your skin
I revel in this flame sparked anew
Maybe lightning can strike twice
Igniting the candles that drip
Curious wax patterns all over
Our thin reality we have here.
The reflection in the water as
The candles go out
Is painfully familiar
A terrible recollection
Of what it feels like
To let go.
The ball is in my court
To say goodbye, my friend.
But you know I can't do that
And I know neither can you
So maybe, just maybe, this isn't the end.

Throwing myself out there, but such is the nature of friendship and life, no?
