Summary: Semper ad meliora and what we will do for love; in hopes of saving the world. One person Roxas never loved.
Every time Namine says comeback, Roxas runs a little farther. She is an enchantress, bewitching in her puzzles and quests, her slimming white satin, but by the time Roxas figures out her mysteries, he has realized that the only beauty was in the chase.
(but it wasn't really a chase at all, his mind replies fitfully, it was a lure. A trap, a plan, like the dazzling bait of a monstrous angler, such was your attraction to adventure.)
Namine is a precious doll, yet her insides are hollow beneath taffeta lace and she holds herself firm just to make sure she's still there (bowels and kidneys, a straining ribcage and her own simpering liver, something missing in the hideaway of her chest. This is how she is.) but Roxas thinks even she can be strong (wicked, devious) (or perhaps he simply wants to believe he was a tough decision.)
But he can't trust her, not after what he lost and felt. (it was fake, but he can remember what it's like to feel and be understood and be human, and there is so much cruelty in having that taken away. [The thing is, though, now that he understands, he finds he doesn't anymore. What is so special about humanity? There is pain in loss, but a new world in changing and moving away from the past. He thinks that maybe a nobody is a being without a heart, but that is what makes them complete.])
Namine is Kairi and Roxas is Sora (Only missing all of what made Sora real. Sora was a hero. Roxas set out to steal the heart of the world. He knows that this does not make him any less the Sora whom Roxas isn't)
Roxas thinks he should be in love with her, but nothing will change the fact that he is not that either.
However, this is War, and Roxas doesn't blame her. He was less important, simply a means to an end, and only Sora could have saved the world. (but he is Sora too isn't he?)
[“Roxas” she says and flickers like a candle.
He's not sure what is real.]
