[Drabble] Raindrops

"Come on, MatsuJun."

Jun frowned, his face uncertain as he looked up at Aiba out of the doorway, his head tilting to the side as he peered around the other and outside. "But it's raining."

"Exactly... come on!" Jun felt Aiba grab his hand and tug, the other's enthusiasm enough to get Jun's feet moving, if somewhat reluctantly, towards the door.

Jun glanced to the side, apprehension still caught in his too-wide eyes as he waited for an adult or some other authority figure to jump out of the shadows and stop them. Sure, they were done with filming for the day, but what if the director suddenly decided he wanted to shoot something else? It had happened before.

Jun sighed, knowing that if his sister was here she'd accuse him of worrying too much. She always accused him of that when he didn't want to do something that she deemed fun-- well, it wasn't his fault that he liked to be cautious about things. People like his sister and Aiba just made him look like he worried too much with their recklessness.

Besides, they were teenagers now-- practically adults-- and with that came certain responsibilities. They couldn't just go running off whenever they felt like it, doing whatever they wanted like little kids.

"Wait, I don't think I want to." Jun dug his heels in, forcing Aiba to stop just as they'd reached the door. He could hear the rain beating against the rooftop overhead and see it streaking down the windows and collecting into muddy puddles along the sidewalk outside.

"It's just a little rain, MatsuJun," Aiba answered, his hand still clutching the younger boy's loosely as he smiled at him, eyes lighting up as if there was some wonderfully hillarious secret that he and only he knew, and he'd share with Jun if only the other would just come outside with him.

Jun sighed, his lips curving down into a frown as he stared up at Aiba's smiling face. He was so good at telling anyone else no if they were doing something that he thought was stupid, but for some reason Aiba always talked him into doing whatever he wanted. Or convinced him, at least... Aiba never had to do much talking to convince him. Sometimes he couldn't tell if he was friends with Aiba inspite of the fact that the other could be so irritating or -because- of it.

"Five minutes. Then I'm going back inside." Jun mumbled, checking his watch to ensure the time.

"You won't want to!" Aiba laughed, tightening his grip on Jun's hand as he pushed open the door and pulled his friend with him out into the rain.

Jun frowned, giving the older boy his most sullen look as Aiba lead the way out into the rain, forcing Jun through puddles, stopping to splash him or pull them both under the steady stream of a rain gutter. As if they weren't wet enough already.

Jun checked his watch, shivering a little with the cold and wishing he had some dry clothes, or at the very least an umbrella. Aiba kicked water from a puddle at him and he kicked back, automatically, giving the other a sour look. Jun paused, all unhappy thoughts dying at the sight of Aiba drenched from head to toe, wet hair hanging in his eyes and a look of surprise frozen on his face as the cold, muddy water from Jun's splashing hit him in the chest.

They stood there for a moment in silence until finally it was broken by Jun's laughter. Aiba grinned and joined the other, his friend pointing at him and giggling like a much younger boy at his current state, as Aiba did the same to him.

A mischievious look on his face, Aiba splashed Jun again, just to see the other's reaction.

Jun splashed back, still grinning and laughing as he moved further away and out of the other's reach, only to have Aiba run after him.

Five minutes passed, and then ten and they were still outside, running through rain puddles with sodden sneakers, laughing as the rain soaked through their clothing and seemed to seep into their skin.

Fifteen minutes, then twenty, and MatsuJun had forgotten all about checking his watch.
