I'm just wondering whether I dare start to feel good about this. I think this could be OK for Gene - he now knows that everything Sam said about where he was from was the truth, and perhaps it's only a short step from there to knowing that when Sam disappeared it was because he was "called" back to 2006.

I really need to read Steady cos it seems like I've read and loved everything in Steady!verse but the main story itself.

Yes, I know what I said but curiosity got the better of me and I gave this a quick zip through. Then I realized what you were writing and I went back and read it properly.

God, I love this. Gene finally gets closure and peace of mind before he dies. Even if no one believes him and thinks he's a crazy old coot, HE knows.

And the way you reference back to chapter 15 of Steady As She Goes is beautiful and right. It feels so complete.

So even if part 2 of this turns out completely different than what I expect, part one has given me everything I want.
