That response is quite appropriate. ;)

Oh no - you can't.

Stop torturing Sam, dammit!

I'm sorry. He made me do it. Sam can be very persuasive.

Aaargh! Dammit, why did Merrick have to bring those pills? Why did Sam have to grab them? Why did Chris mention the jump? Aaaaargh!!!

Very gripping and fantastic chapter! You really are great at building up tension; I loved the way that Gene continued to vacillate back and forth over whether or not Sam was crazy, and I hate Merrick even more now that I know he was the one that really set Gene over the edge so far as Sam's sanity was concerned...

In Merrick's defense, Sam claims he's from the future. It being true doesn't make him seem less insane. If you met someone who told you they were from 33 years in the future, you'd think them insane and in need of therapy too, especially if they'd tried to kill themselves to go back.

I'm actually pretty sure that Merrick isn't actually "evil" or anything like that, but Merrick doesn't know about the non-amphetamine induced suicide attempt on top of the building, and it just seems a bit freaky that he would put someone he'd diagnosed as a schizophrenic on that high a dose of diazapam (Valium), which, to the best of my knowledge, should be used in conjuncture with antipsychotics, and only to control anxiety attacks, in a schizophrenic (then again, my research could be wrong) - it makes it seem like he wants Sam as docile and sedate as possible, which is sort of understandable, but just really puts me on edge, for some reason...

You do make a valid point, though :) Just a testament to dakfinv's writing talents, if she can rile me up that much with her fic :)

Thank you! Let's see if I can answer your questions...

-because Merrick thought Sam might need them still
-because Sam can be a selfish bastard
-Chris is a bit of div? (though that's not very fair to poor Chris)

Gene's part was the hardest to write. It's the part that kept holding me up so I'm glad it turned out.

You had to make him remember the pills, didn't you? You just had to do it. I though you had gotten over the "Let's Torture Sam" phase you were going through.

Well, since you had to do it, you did it well.

Yes I did. Sorry. I think the torture "phase" is more of an affliction. Just when I thought it was gone, it comes right back.

Thank you!
