John at Elling Stage Door (sweet story)

I met John Simm at the stage door at Elling and I must admit that he was very nice and charming. BUT you could tell he was not pleased with the autograph hecklers. This one woman just sort of shoved these LIfe on Mars promo packets right under his nose as he was talking to someone else, he signed them but he didn't say anything. I must admit, that I thought the woman was rude and if I had been John I wouldn't of wanted to say anything to someone that pushy. I must relate this story though as I thought it was so sweet.

There was a girl waiting at the stage door with her friend who didn't seem nearly as excited as teh rest of us to see the cast, when Keir and Ingrid came out she chatted with Ingrid for a while and with Keir, turned out she was an aspiring actress and they were giving her advice! When John and Adrian came out everyone ran to John but she went to Adrian (I was a little further back, trying to catch all the actors away from the mob, right behind this girl). John was signing autographs like a machine, head down, hand out for pen/programme, head up for photo, next. It wasn't rude, he seemed quite polite but it was very straight forward and methodical. When he turned towards us, the group further from the door (and I nearly died, he was so close) he was right in front of this girl, head down, same method. She said something about him being an extraordinary actor and that he was an inspiration to her as an aspiring actress. He looked up and really studied her, really wanted to see who she was. He seemed both shocked and flattered and told her thank you and that it meant a lot and that it was a hard road but that she should stick it out....right as they were talking the women came in he signed her program and then turned back and took a picture with this girl. He was really smilly and you could tell how much he appreciated her comment. She and her friend left and when he got to me I was so excited all I manged was "hi, I liked the play" but he was very nice and took a picture :-)
