Oh that one word had better be no. You can't bring me all this way to have Sam end up in the looney bin. But I trust your storytelling because you have created such an amazing story so far. So lead on, I will follow you wherever you want to take it.

Thank you so much for slipping in one more chapter before I leave to catch my plane. You rock!

Eeeeeek! Gene, don't do it, don't do it Gene...

This was just fantastic - poor Sam, having the seizure in 2006 translate into a panic attack in 1973 - or was it the other way around? I love the way that you put Sam's internal monologue after all of his responses with the doctor, and now I'm incredibly afraid about what the nurses/doctors might've heard Sam say...

Also, loved Ray snapping to and taking charge, and the other supporting him.

Great installment!

Thank you! When I first wrote Sam's responses it felt a little flat, so I added the internal monologue to try and make it more interesting. I'm glad it worked for you!

What was the word? What was the word?????

I loved Ray taking charge. See, he does know how to be a real police officer. *g*

Fantastic chapter. I feel envious of anyone who hasn't read this yet, 'cos they can read it all at once. I keep telling myself to be strong, to wait until you've posted two or three chapters so that I can read them all together, but I'm weak and pounce on them as soon as I see you've posted :D

The word was...well I've written the next bit. I just have to type it up and post it so you shouldn't have to wait long. I'm sorry my chapters are so short. Every time I try to make them longer my brain simply refuses. But it's okay to be weak sometimes. ;)

Awesome. You sure know how to write cliffhangers!

Hmm, I like Dr. Merrick as a character in this, but his name I'm not so sure about. Have you seen a film called The Island? There's a Dr. Merrick in that who really doesn't inspire much confidence in the name. That's why, nice as he may seem at the moment, I have reason to be wary of Merrick. If Gene's word is 'yes' (which I suspect it is, from his body language) I fear things are about to get much, much worse for poor Sammy...

I liked what you did with Ray in this. He rarely gets a chance to show CID what he's made of and the one time he did he messed it up badly and no-one, least of all him, is ever going to forget that. So the idea that he gets a second chance (and to get it right this time) is reassuring.

More very soon please! :D

"Merrick" actually made me think of the Elephant Man. Hmm, maybe you meant that? *ponders*

Thanks! I have seen The Island, but it was so long ago I can't remember the characters' names. Honestly, the name just popped into my head. I have no idea where it came from. I think the plot bunnies put it there.

I'm glad you like my Ray! He's not my favorite character, but sometimes I think he's just gets a little misunderstood, so I wanted to redeem a bit. The guy's not a total twat all the time.

The guy would probably go crazy himself if he did! He could write a whole thesis on our Sammy.
