Good thing I decided to make one last check tonight. I am liking this more and more with each new chapter.

It all felt wrong to Gene. Sam was healing, but he was still wasting away. He wasn’t fighting. He was just letting himself go and Gene couldn’t understand why. Why a man who fought over everything would not fight for himself.

A simply wonderful passage and very Gene. Keep up the great work!

Hmmm so is 2006 real? Or was the coach crash real?

And... if the coach crash happened wouldn't Sam's surname be different because Tyler was taken from the gravestones?

:P

Well, even in 2006 Sam still was in a coach crash at 12, except he says he was the only one hurt. But maybe 2006 isn't real, but Sam still believes it is because I'm setting this before 2.08, so he's combining the Tyler surname with those experiences, and throwing Gene in their from his subconscious and...

Now my head hurts.

Haha. Yeah, I totally forgot that he was in a crash when he was a kid in 2006 too. :D

Ah, how I love the craziness of LoM. :D

Oooh, more than 20 parts - woo hoo!!

Was Gene at the coach crash or has Sam's sub-conscious put him there?

Loved the end line - "I’m here now, Sammy. You can wake up any time." Because of the preceeding paragraphs, it's so full of feeling.

I had a theory a few chapters back that Chris' shooting wasn't quite the accident you've made it out to be and nothing you've said so far has contradicted that. Hmmm, you certainly know how to spin a good yarn :)

And come on, Sammy, FIGHT!!

I've heard if you clap your hands and repeat "I do believe in fairy-boy science, I do believe in fairy-boy science" that he won't die. Or, wait, is that from Peter Pan? Oh well, maybe it'll work anyway. Thanks!

I thought it was "gay-boy science."

Loving it... Gene's shut down over his inability to find the killer is just perfect, as is his fear of going to see Sam. I played around with that idea when working on Jabberwocky, but ultimately decided to throw Gene into full investigative swing instead, hoping that someone else would explore the other possible angles - and you've done it masterfully here. So thanks for making a little fic wish come true :)

Also, I'm loving the flashbacks that unconscious Sam is having, and the way that it could've been Gene at the coach crash: like Hambel said, is it Gene, or is it Sam's mind? That's one of the best things about LoM fanfic, you never know what's real and what's a concoction of Sam's poor brain, and I love it when ficcers explore all those angles!

Just wonderful!

Thank you! I'm glad I could make your wish come true. What's great about these characters was that they were so well written in the show, so three-dimensional, that you can see all these different possiblities for their reactions, and they're still all canon.

Poor Sam's brain. It should really be saved and studied for the benefit of science. Maybe he could get a new mental disorder named after him.
