You know, between you, me, and serafina20, I think there's been enough Sam-smashing to last us years in the past few days... Yikes!

You definitely kept the tension up in this portion - the pace is incredibly taut and Gene's anxiety at the situation is just palpable. Amazing writing. Also, I love the fact that, despite the fact that he kicked the living crap out of Sam earlier, Ray was the one to dive in after Sam: both actions really do seem to suit Ray's character very well.

I'm amazed at how quickly you're updating this; very high quality stuff, churned out very fast - just great! Hope there's more soon, I'm still on the edge of my seat, and I'm really worried about what will happen once Chris finds out, whether or not Gene thinks the pills were an intentional idea of Sam's, and how many bystanders are going to be mowed over in Gene's wake as he goes after the culprits..

I think if Gene didn't find them there wouldn't be a Manchester left.

We really need some people to write a massive amount of happy!Sam fluff to make up for everything we've been doing to him. It's just amazing how many different ways we can land Sam in hospital. Good thing they didn't let us write the show. Poor John would've ended up unconscious every ep!

Thanks for all the comments!

Blimey, that was quick!

I liked the interaction between Sam and Maya. The Class 'A' emergency in Sam's trousers made me chuckle - I'm sure we'd all respond to that call!!!

The little insight into Sam's childhood was good too. I noticed that was the first time he said he would always keep his promises.

He's not off the danger list yet, so you can't rest until he is ;)

No, no rest for me. I do feel a bit guilty for beating up poor Sam. But do you mean resting comfortably in hospital or a more eternal rest...

What?!? You know what I want - Sammy resting comfortably in hospital with Gene out there kicking shit out of the bad guys avenging his DI.

And some Sam/Gene pr0n wouldn't go amiss either, cos if you don't write it, I may have to write some myself and inflict it on the community ;)

Good luck with the job interview. Hope it all goes well :)

Thank you!

But as much as I enjoy the Sam/Gene pr0n, I'm afraid I'm not so good at writing it. You may have to inflict some upon us...

You certainly keep me on the edge of my seat.

And I do love Sam angst. Its so good. I think I might be more evil than you.

Can't wait for more. Poor Sammy and his long recovery... in both realities now!

He just can't seem to catch a break, can he? At least not when I'm playing with him.

I hope the edge of your seat is comfortable. You might be stuck there a little longer, as long as I can keep writing this well enough.

You're killing me with all these cliffhangers! This part was awesome, fast-paced and wonderfully in character. I loved it how Gene took care of Sam when he'd been dragged out of the water, and especially how Annie and Ray behaved in that terrible situation. Moreover, you treated us also with some great Sam/Maya (one of my fave ships). Well done!!!

Please don't keep us hanging for too long before the next chapter (pretty please with a whipped-cream covered Sam Tyler on top!) ;)

I have a big job interview tomorrow, but for a whipped-cream covered Sam Tyler...Oh, I'll definitely make time to write the next chapter.

Oh, good luck for the interview, then! I'll keep my fingers crossed. And you can have the whipped-cream covered Sammy Boy only if you've been a good girl and written the next instalment (after the interview, though: wouldn't wanna distract you too much)! ;)

Thanks! Luckily it's in the morning, so I'll have it out of the way. I might be needing that Sammy boy after this.

Another fabulous chapter! Like I'd expect anything else at this point. Everyone's reactions were wonderful and in character. Even though some might not exactly get along with Sam or agree with him, he's one of the team and no one gets away with that!

Can't wait for the next one!

I meant to add that I liked the Blue Monday touch. I actually heard that ooh, about 20 minutes ago. :)

Thank you! No, no one messes with the team. Especially Gene Hunt's team. Blue Monday came to me at the last minute. I was trying to think of song that would be playing in 1983 that young Sam might listen to, and since John portrayed half of New Order, it just seemed perfect.
