One of the reasons that I will always think of Sam as a brilliantly written TV character: he's whiny, moody, prissy, and self-centered, and yet one can't help but feel completely and totally sympathetic towards him and wrapped up in his story. You've managed to capture that spectacularly here, and I'm still on the edge of my seat about Chris! I also love the bit about Ray's dog, and the comparison to Chris, as well as the fact that Gene is the one hunting for Sam. Wonderful, and you update so amazingly fast!

Thank you! I was afraid Sam was coming off a little too whiney in this part, being drunk and all, but I'm glad you think it works. The fast update thing may have something do with currently being unemployed...but I much prefer writing to working any day.

I agree with you completely Sytaxia! Sam really is one of the most complex characters who has ever been on TV! He's so human and yet we can really see him as a hero.

I love where this fic is going! I love the use of Nelson too. I sometimes wonder if he exists outside of the pub!

Amzing writing and plot twists are great too!

Thanks! I thought Nelson was simply one of the coolest characters on TV, always knowing what's best for the boys. I wish I knew a barman like him. Hm, I've never read a fic where Nelson is outside the pub. Now that would be interesting.

Sam is just f-ked isn't he? Poor guy. And him thinking that he's responsible? That's just so Sam, also so messed up.
Love seeing Gene's mighty cog brain at work, figuring out where Sam is and what he's doing.
And I just want to hug Annie and Ray, awww :(

Thanks! Yeah, I think Sam has some issues to work out. Don't know if he'll be able to though...I figured Gene needed some detective work to get his mind off Chris. We'll see how long that works out.

Oh, you are evil with your cliffhangers.

Another wonderful chapter. So Sam was at the Arms...well he doesn't really have many places to go so that made sense. I'm really enjoy this. It feels very Canon. I have an odd love for drunk!Sam, so I loved that, and it's always great to see Nelson and the Test Card Girl popping up in fic. And Gene taking Sam's cash back from the shop was spot-on.

You're doing a lovely job with this. It's such an enjoyable read. :)

I think cliffhangers are good for the soul. Or maybe I just like being cruel. :) Writing TCG was one of the hardest parts, and I wanted to avoid it, but she insisted on being there. She's not a very nice girl...thank you!

You managed to get some background info in - Nelson serving his favourite coppers out of hours when he thought they needed it; and Ray's dog.

Drunk!Sam was great. And Gene looking for him... well, that's what he'd do.
