::cries:: poor Gene. This is perfection in angsty form. Kirst, honey...you made me tear up...I don't cry at anything usually.

Ray was spot on, completely spot on. I love that Sam cares enough to poke at the wound, even if he thinks gene'll disown him for it...

This is great. I love how Ray knows what the matter is, which is right because he's known Gene the longest.

So sad, although I love the image of a younger Gene playing football with his son :)

I have even kind of mapped out an imagined Ray and Gene history in the second part to this!

And yes, Gene would play football with his son.

This was a marvellous piece of writing. Full of emotion and filling out character! Really moved by this, again remarkable.

Wow. This fic is happy/sad and just leaves one feeling, well, teary but happy :)
It is so well thought out, and the comradery between Sam and Gene is wonderful. Gene trusts Sam so much, I'm surprised that Ray knew about it before Sam did, but then Gene has known Ray longer :)

Thank you - and all is kind of explained of how Ray knew about it in the other version. These were a bit of a 'mare to write, I kind of had to write them side by side.
